Cannot access certian sites, or upload anything :(
I have having an intermittent problem which has been happening on and off since i got my 3g wireless internet. I spoke to someone at three (3) who made even less sense than lerts so i gave up.

This are the exact problems...

I am unable to upload anything at all, anywhere, (i even tested with a tiny 4kb text file and i cannot even upload something that small)

I cannot access certain sites.
So far, they are....

Ebay
MSN
Hotmail

I can sometimes get to the sign in page, and then the page hangs.

In both situations i get this error..

Error 2 (net::ERR_FAILED): Unknown error.

I have tried with google chrome (my usual browser) IE8, And firefox3, the same happens with all browsers.

According to the traceroute i ran from the command prompt (CMD) the signal is lost at a server in san jose. I have no clue why my packets are going all that distance on uk pages but thats where i get all the time out messages, usually from hop 13 onwards.

The weird thing is i can browse everywhere else i usually go perfectly ok, even random google search results for a fix all load ok, and i can download with no problems its just these sites, and uploading anything that is the fault.

Usually i can unplug my usb dongle and wait a while, plug back in and its ok, but this fix isn't working anymore.

I also tried the cleardns command from CMD but it didnt help.

Does anyone have any ideas what else i could try, because im obviously screwed when it comes to ebay, and infinately more important, getting skins up on lfsworld.

EDIT: It seems posting is also becoming an issue as well, as it has taken 12 attempts, and removing and reconnecting the wireless dongle 4 times to post this thread.

Check your hosts file firstly, there shouldn't be anything in there apart from the local host. (C://Windows/System32/drivers/etc and there should be a "hosts.msn" file. It's nothing to do with MSN, so don't get confused. )

Most of the issue you have are related to the Mobile connection you are on, most likely. I'm guessing that this problem is fairly recent and hasn't been there for the duration of your time with the 3G Mobile Internet. If that's the case, it's most likely server work that's going on and it should self rectify itself within a few days to a week or so.

Not being able to upload could either be due to server work or the fact you are on a 3GP connection, which is already pretty poor.
Yeah, its poo. Although i dont tend to lag, which lets face it, is all that really matters.

This is how bad it is tonight..

I can usually get about 960kbps download and 80kbps upload, but tonight is extra crap.
