Threw a CEL the other day, didn't think much of it, got to hardware store, popped hood.. could see the butterfly valve on the throttle body, and SRI was just hanging there by the MAF sensor.. ugh!

Bad day.

also managed to ruin a badge! bad weekend.

got the mazda badge painted white, but utterly managed to warp and ruin the flying M so it's got pins in there for now.
Why's it gotta be new years and everyone takes time off?!

I wish I had a job when I was in highschool.. my car would be awesome
actually I would be done with my car, and actually be saving for .. life..

@Sueycide
That'd be a horrible decision to buy that car; even in the images the car looks terrible, it says it has 160,000 miles but it looks to me it's got twice that easily; and I can promise you those aren't highway miles either.. the car is junk, it's been spray painted, it's all dented up.. $1k for that is already overpriced.. I'm sorry, but that thing is trash.. that is by no means a "project car"
Project cars are when you have a few 10k sitting around to fix up a non destroyed car to begin with, and already have something to get around in.. definitely not your primary transportation.

It's P40; lol he screwed up and said P40 Mustang which I kinda laughed about. Why does it have to be a plane? People painted that mouth on a bomb; Hell, there is a skin for LFS for the RAC that has it that I still recall. Just because it was first done on a plane mean it can only forever be on a plane.

Also, he never said he wanted his car to be a rat rod, he said he enjoys the rat rod scene; never did he say that is all he ever wanted.

It's amazing how much confusion there is over American car culture and the stance movement that I guess just isn't really around the world yet.. if it ever does go around; doubt it will.

@RasmusL, some states in the US you only have to run rear plates; however, there are some states that do require both front and rear plates. Otherwise, everyone with a Volvo apparently has to find some euro plate to put on the front of it.

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :I've seen that car a few times and it should be scrapped as it isn't road legal. But the owner lives in a state with no inspection, so you can drive any old rust bucket around and not a damn thing can be done about it.

Attitude much?

@blueflame What makes them wannabe? Also they aren't decals, he painted them.

Haters gonna hate..

Not every car has to be super clean and shaved.. after the 50th one it gets kinda boring.

Ahh Old Rusty / Frankenstein

That car has changed so much in the stance and build 'round the world; word is out on that car, it's amazing how much attention it has gotten, but then again it's well deserved!
I hadn't seen the entire build thread, thanks for linking this! I've been curious about it since I've seen plenty of pictures of how it is today.. I think it's gorgeous.
craftsmanship is amazing too.

Love it or hate it.. it's incredible how much work has gone into that car.

Haha I'm not going to ban anyone; I wouldn't qualify myself as having moderator status here anymore; nothing is going on, I haven't really kept in touch with anyone, and only come through to visit this single thread lol

Unfortunately no mine isn't the Speed, it's an 06; they released the Speed3 in 08.
I also won't be turboing my car.. it's already got 70k something miles on it, and my friend that turboed his 2.0 liter sleeper blew one engine up; but that's because he's pushing his 2.0 hard (.. his 2.0 sedan can take on stock Evos.. it's pumping out some power; but you'd never imagine because it looks like a stuck baseline sedan with bigger tires)

@S14 I know, it's kinda funny; get a bunch of people playing a racing game and they'll yell their heads off about how a wing here or there won't help anything; do it to a real car and they shut up haha

I'm just sick of my car having such horrid fitment and being so damn high! it blows.

Oh, SRI install should be tomorrow at some time; and I will make a comparison video.. should be interesting, I've never heard the difference of an aftermarket intake in person; just in random youtube videos.

@Osco I did do some white carbon fiber vinyl stuff in my interior; unfortunately it turned out to be metal backed so .. it's junk, I pulled one of the pieces off already.
So whenever I feel like doing a lot of vinyl work I'm going to get that 3M DiNoc stuff and do a lot of the interior.

It looks nice in pictures; in person you can pick out bubbles because the stuff doesn't flex hardly at all; I just have to go back and do it again with the 3M texture based stuff instead; won't be glossy, but whatever; if I want it to be glossy I can spray it I suppose.

This is my plan, is to lower on coilovers and get some Enkei RPF1s and paint them bright green:

Stocker grill with black is on for now; trying to fix the fitment on the AE grill.

SRI install sometime this week.
looking into doing a balance shaft delete and VTCS delete.
Pretty much done with the outside minus wheels and coils, time to move to power I suppose :/

Looks weird right now only because the roof isn't black yet; that will come.. hopefully sooner than later.

Also looks weird because it was taken with a cell phone instead of my camera.. I bet when I get some pics during the SRI install it will look better.

Going to change out grills at some point, I'm not liking the fitment of this one and it just isn't doing it for me anymore.

Short ram intake comes later this week, and various other parts.
Still no word on coils yet.

Think I'm going to continue with the rally theme; get some OZ or similar style wheels.

I enjoy seeing stickers on lips and stuff but I was going to save those for interior parts so they don't get ruined lol, I'm not a fan of putting years of saving nice stickers and putting them on something that will be destroyed haha that isn't me, I just like having some on the rear window like I do.

It's a fad thing though, I like it, but I won't be joining in on that one lol; not externally at least.

Oops, forgot to update my car pictures, sorry guys.

Good news is lips came in etc, and they are looking great.
Bad (good?) news is front passenger shock is leaking so I may be getting coils sonner than expected. (if I can afford them)

front lip comparison (test fit):

as opposed to bug eyes.. yes lol

eyelids were the first things I did to the car, shoot I did those before I even painted the calipers I think.

They just make a far cleaner line down the body than it does stock.

i'm amazed how LFS people stick together; I haven't had LFS on my computer for years.. sorry, just read the last like 2 pages of the "scirocco update" thread lol..

anyways some new toys!
I will put up some better pictures tomorrow or whenever I get some; parts aren't attached yet but they arrived.. finally.

wing extender (not on correctly so it looks kinda weird) :
(also sorry, these pictures of the extender were right when I got home so car is super dirty)

It will remain black, yes it looks weird right now, but when the roof is vinyled black it will look much much much better.

front lip before and after

Depending on how much money I have I'm not sure if I am going to be able to drop my car yet; coilovers cost a pretty penny. Trying to get a deal out of a friend who has some contacts; just don't want to get a set of cheap ones that will rust out and leave me stranded

so that's my update!

oh and one other thing; my other form of transportation
Not a car, but i've been pulled over on my other longboards a few times

White on white [has the potential to look good]

I will say I have some white on white cars that just look bad.
What I've noticed is if the wheel's spokes aren't to wide, or the openings in the wheels are enough to add contrast; white on white can look good. If not enough contrast, then it looks really bad.

I however am drooling over this STi on Canibeat, and am seriously considering white BBS's with the red cap. Otherwise I seriously want Rotas

I can say that yes the mudflaps look strange on my car right now; but when it is lowered (hopefully aiming for around Christmas time), they will be a perfect match.

No springs yet; maybe around winter time?
Wing extender and vinyl roof hopefully in about a month when I go home for Thanksgiving

Mudflappin'

These rally armor flaps are great, I think they look cool too at least; but a serious +1 for keeping my car super clean

Trying to get lowering springs around christmas time this year, i'm sick of it being so high, and somewhere in between a wing lip and vinyl wrap the roof black. And whenever I can afford them, new wheels.

Why are your shots so noisy for only being shot at 400 ISO and lower?
Is that something you're doing or what?

and it does 720p video which is stunning!

used both of these cameras this morning for the 5k run, it worked awesome! Had my 70-200 on the 300s for most of the morning and the 10-20 on the 40

Well I was at work two days ago doing a shoot for the GAs (graduate assistants) at my school's recreation center (I do all the photos for VSU's Rec sports http://www.flickr.com/photos/vsu_recreation)

Anyways so yesterday at work my camera took a serious firmware plunge, worse than ever before. For the past almost two years every now and again my camera would freak out and think it is in auto mode while in M or A, randomly the built in flash will pop up even if a hotshoe flash is attached... yesterday however it was far worse than ever before, typically an off and back on would get it back to working semi normal, this wasn't the case. It took much longer and the flashes wouldn't cooperate and everything was failing on the spot, while everyone had to get back to work.

It is really funny to read about photography bloggers about.. oh you don't need such and such equipment, you don't really need a semi pro camera you don't even need an slr you don't need this you don't need that. Which as far as I have come in the world of photography.. the more equipment the better of everything. A normal person would NEVER go out and spend $2000 on a lens just to get some jollies out of it. I have used my D40 harder than any photographer I have personally met, it has been in situations bottom of the line cameras are never thought of to be in. Severe cold, heat, rain, constant switching and swapping of parts and always on the job, especially at work.

The D40 was made for a consumer to have an affordable dSLR. Within a month of owning it I had already abused that much of it. 3 years later it has been through so much more than one was ever intended. Amazingly however if you saw the camera you would think nothing of it, physically it is in absolutely mint condition. It has never been dropped or anything, but it has been through some rough times.

The shutter life is still fine on it, it has just passed 40,000 actuations earlier this week, Nikon guarantees up to 50,000, but the internals have just about had enough.

It has done well for the most part, leisurely speaking it has been great. Professionally it gets the job done, but I can't expect to much out of it, which is why I have quit reading many bloggers, especially Ken Rockwell and DPS (digital photography school). A camera is only made to withstand so much. I wouldn't say I abused that line, but I have taken beyond the full potential of the camera no doubt about it.

On a tangent, I hate it when people say something about the true potential of a camera. Especially when the line before that is along the lines of oh you don't need a great camera.... I don't know about them, but I know I do. If I could afford it I would have a D3x and a 200-400 f/4 and other amazing equipment.

Anyways so very soon my old D40 will be replaced with either a D300 or D300s and will make my 40 my backup for whatever reason. Between classes, my current job, and another job I am trying to get, having a camera that fails on you is not a good thing.

Just thought I would share my story!

Ha stop signs.

We started getting the red light green like BS and so far it's made the highways a complete mess. It's "supposed" to spread out people, but that kinda defeats the purpose when there is bumper to bumper non moving traffic right?

And then people are dumb enough to follow the lights.. so they stop when it's red, and go when it's green.. yet two car lengths ahead of them is the traffic of the highway and no one is moving..

then all the traffic goes into the streets and ugh it's a mess...

Thank god I haven't seen two idiots at those lights turn it into a drag race... yet...

lol doyal.. I know you know, but I am pretty sure that in that mercedes there is some old person, who hasn't realized the shocks are completely gone haha I hate it when people don't realize when the shocks are completely bad, did they think the back always bounced that much when they ran over a tiny stick or pebble??

No sh*t it's stupid lol! Scares the crap out of me every time!
Hopefully they don't have to stop on a dime. They usually try and keep space in front of them, but depending on traffic they will for sure keep up with the flow of traffic

Other freeways and stuff they stay at the limit, but 285 is always running around 75-80mph and they stay in that range, otherwise traffic gets horrid
