Here Here!! That was one of the best LFS days of all time for me

Great to drive with such skilled drivers for that many races! Thanks for coming onto our server guys and making a great memory for us I don't think I have ever seen a server full for that many hours in a row before.

Awesome idea Havoc

+1 good idea. Also a drift filter like we have a cruise filter would be nice. Maybe a race filter for the cruisers and drifters.

Quote from Neilser :Sounds good... Where would I find them? Sorry if dumb question! (Had a look already and just found a setupgrid-like Setupfield on the Team Inferno website but no sign of General Inferno sets specifically.)

Wow! That could have been a lot of fun
I can see though why it could also have had somewhat, eh, mixed results :bitehard:

Your right they are not on the Inferno site. I'll shoot a few too you when we see each other online.
On second thought here's a link to our site and you can download the sets.

Quote from Neilser :Many good points above.
Personally I moved away from Race 1 as soon as I could.
This was despite the fact that it was great to race against quick people - Gold/Platinum+ - and I learned a lot about driving etc. from them. Most of them were really chilled about beginner incidents, and expected it because, hey, it's the beginner server for pete's sake

But ironically, the main reason I moved up was not because of the newbies but actually because of some of the OTHER Gold/Platinum people - the ones who:
a) don't appreciate that beginner people are there to learn, and flame them a lot, spoiling everyone's enjoyment
b) don't understand that being quick and coming up behind a backmarker who is shown a blue flag does not entitle them to barge past rudely - the backmarker does NOT have to dive out of the way (unless a mid-race joiner of course)
c) have failed, in fact, to understand the rules about blues in general - in particular they whinge when they lose any time at all, even though the rules instruct them to expect it; they also send "BLUE!!!" messages with hotkeys and honk the horn even though the rules expressly forbid it...

For me at least, those people made R1 a not-fun place to be when they were online.

Ahem. Rant over.

But as for Race 2 - yes, it's a dead duck right now so anything to revive it would be cool. Perhaps some of the quick people could post setups on Setupgrid too? Cos when you join the server and it's pretty much empty, the one or two people there tend to be just 'visiting' and don't have decent sets for the cars! A casual look on setupgrid (last time I played with R2) didn't give me much joy.

Good points. I friggin hate "Blue Flag" spammers!!!! All I can say is report them every time.

Also for well balanced sets try "General Inferno" sets. They are usually well balanced and symmetrical so they can actually turn both directions.

As to your last point. These are the people that get (Hopefully) weeded out on this server by the report function. Then all that progress to the Race2 server are clean and curtious drivers. (I know this is not always the case but the vast majority are.)

But where else would you have them learn it?
Demo servers for the most part only teach you to drive looking in your rearveiw to avoid the crasher.
Why not learn to race here? Where the people are supposed to be clean and fair. This should be the perfect place to learn. All that is needed is some helping hands to teach the required skills.

Edit: I know what your saying. And the new people need to have some common sense as well.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :If by "best racing" you mean "Lots of inexperienced people who have no idea of racecraft", then sure.

I said "some of the best racing". And yes this is the place to learn the "racecraft" so its to be expected that not everyone knows what they are doing. If you fail to expect some mistakes on this server you are the one with the problem

Quote from Mille Sabords :I strongly disagree with this.
1) learners should deserve licenses, if only copper / bronze are allowed on the entry server it will be too easy to advance and will not demonstrate the ability to race.
2) fighting with more experienced (but not necessarily faster) drivers is fun and teaches more than being only amongst other beginners. It also grants more satisfaction to fight with higher license holders and pass them, and gives slower ones an idea of what is possible to achieve with practice.
3) Not all that start racing on CTRA servers are newbies to LFS. They need some opposition as well else it would make it (even more) unattractive to start CTRA for already experienced racers.

Please higher license keep going on Race1 from time to time, to teach, report, explain, share tips and sets. It makes it welcoming instead of turning the server into a surviver race "mad max" style.

I agree...Now

When this discussion came up before and I had a lower license I was on the other side of the argument. I thought that the higher licenses should stay off the Race1 server and let us race people of our own skill level. I was wrong! Racing against higher licensesed drivers improves skill sets. You can learn from them and get great sets.

I still like to race on race1 sometimes. I have a Platinum license but very rarely do I win on Race1. I am just not that fast. I have learned to accept this fact. There is almost always someone faster there.
But I love to share sets and have nice clean races with a new group of racers that I haven't raced before. I find quite often that I need to let a driver know about a rule that they are breaking or something that they are doing that is not cool. Most times they are receptive and take the advice to heart.
Sometimes not and they get reported. Either way they learn and hopefully become a better "competitor" and or driver to race against.

So the argument is equally right both ways. It just depends where your sitting at the moment.
Don't be in such a hurry to get off Race1 it is some of the best racing to be had on LFS.

This is what brings traffic to a standstill in London. I'd have loved to get out on that hill and get my slide on. It doesn't even cover the tyres!
The buses in London are cancelled, both runways at Heathrow have been closed. Muppets. How hard is it to clear a big wide area of tarmac? Snow isn't even falling any more.

Quote from GabbO :Well, this remembers me to an incident we had. We were up to pit and swap the drivers. Everything went fine, until... until the swap should happen. But nothing happened. I was still in control of the car, and drove off out spot. I already started yelling why has this to happen in such a race??? We did this hundred times before without problems. Then all the sudden near the pit exit i got kicked out of the car and i saw the car in the TV camera scracthing along the barrier. What the f***? Then the car accelerated and I realized thet Trekker took it over. He was most propably smashing his wheel and swearing and got totally surprised about the sudden switch . We were totally fuzzy for a lap or so . Most propably this happened because someone connecting/disconnecting in the same moment.

So, is that crazy enough?

Yes we have done hundreds of driver changes before and never an issue. But this damage repair hang up was a first Ah well you live and learn I guess.

Well RSR had an eventful race to say the least
After being involved in the start crash we needed to pit so Boogle could repair the car. In the pits we encountered a problem we have never seen in LFS before The game kept repairing and repairing and repairing the car. We finally had to instruct Boogle to disconnect and Jaybee joined up. This lost us a couple of laps After this the rest of the race was spent trying to gain some time back and not interfere with the racers laps up on us.
Very nice to compete in such a well organized event. And if we don't get in this year we now have a few more things on our "Race Preparation List."

Quote from obsolum :That's an understatement. Though I wouldn't know how to put it otherwise FF is crappy subpar sorry excuse for a browser. But to each his own. Honestly, the last version I tried was quite a while ago and I have no doubt it has evolved a lot since then, but seeing as everyone was hyping FF to be god's gift to man at the time I tried it, and that I was utterly unimpressed with it at that time, I really don't care for it anymore and I don't see any reason whatsoever for me to try a newer version. At all. And what I really hate with a passion, is the fanatic - almost extremist - Firefox religion that's so bloody abundant everywhere.

And also, I find it hilarious that every time someone dares to utter a disliking for FF there's a bunch of people who immediately start bashing IE and/or other browsers. Stefani's reply in this thread is another fine example of that. Like...what the f**ck?! I say I don't like Firefox and people immediately say "at least it's better than internet exploder".... So f**cking what?! What does that have to do with me not liking FF? Is that really the best argument you can come up with in favor of FF?

Ahhh, rant over. That felt good

Easy now Kiddo Get back to the dMR server and refresh your calm batteries

Quote from N I K I :nudged by behind, now that's just stupid by someone. It's not fun to nudge ppl during SC period is irresponsible and dangerous. Car in front or behind can start warming tires up any time and what if you nudge him in that very moment, he'll spin. Stay away for some decent distance, always. Just bunch up last couple of hundred meters before restart.
But this also shows that you were to close to SC

But still Ice, you have no right to talk if talk is banned, just realize it hehe.
I wanted to say million things during the race, specially why is there so many SC's...

I know, he talked to you, but you weren't supposed to talk to him, it was not a discussion, it was an order.

Ken make sure to read this post I'm sure it applies to you. This I know from past experience. I thought you said you wouldn't be doing this under caution anymore?
