To me it's not about what is trending and what not. I want the best solution for me.
The rapid growth of V8's in drifting makes perfect sense and it's all down to the driver though. If you're used to me to drive with less power and work hard, you'll drive hard again with another engine. If you're used to big power right away, you'll just rely on power and not getting everything out of the car as possible.

I won't change my drivingstyle after an engine swap
I think it would be amazing if I can keep driving like this, just with more power. Able to initiate harder, to keep up with the bigger guys etc...

2JZ is great either but not sure if I'm going to like the turbo lag. Turbo also brings more complexity to the build. So chances are big that I'll go with the V8. Also partswise. BMW V8's, gearboxes are so much more available over here than the Japanese stuff.

I'm just searching all the parts now and see what is easiest/best. For now it's the V8.

Looks good!

I'm now in a debate with myself, wether I should go for a 2JZ or a BMW V8 with supercharger for next year.

Supercharger would be great as it just feels N/A and has the V8 torque along with it.
2JZ's (Toyota 3.0 Twin Turbo engine) have a very strong bottom end and has allot of possibilities for future upgrades... And I think if I could go with the 2JZ, I would start out with small mods to bring it up to around 450bhp. Should be pretty safe with the right mapping.

I will have around 6000-7000€ to do a swap.

Aaaah yes, the battles were driven. I had to wait for the A-finals.

Went pretty well.
I qualified 5th out of 60 with 90 points out of 100.
I lost my first battle due to going offtrack in the chase run. I initiated on a wet patch and came on dry where the car suddenly came straight and i skimmed the kitty litter
On sunday there was a Big Entry Competition wich I won
Next one 12-14 September!

Wow, great!

Unless it's old super saloon's or BTCC cars, leave the FWD's out of it. RWD is where the fun is.

I must say my E90 318D feels very solid. After I drove my friends E39 523i, wich's pedals felt very loose and sensless. I have an electronic gas pedal and it felt way more heavy and also my clutch, wich I prefered more. Also my shifter travels allot more less then the long throws in his car. Really depends on car/brand

Yes, it's just a case of getting used to it. Every car has a different feel in the pedals.
LFS or any other sim is no reference at all to pedals in real life. Just get used to it

Sporty doesn't mean unstable. A car with a firmer chassis and/or suspension can be allot more stable than a car with normal soft suspension. And doesn't really matter that much I guess as it's just taking pictures and not filming orso

What so weird about them using an Impreza? Not every Impreza is a fast turbo or STI model you know
Just a cheap slow model, or maybe Diesel but as it's in the US I don't really think that's the case.

Lol, there is no ffb is real life. It's just real physics....

Hey! What wheels are those?

Yeah, they really want to have a crashed Ferrari
But cool anyway that you'd got to drive one

My square box finally passed inspection. Means now I can do whatever I want to it. Came home and installed my bucket seats right away using AE86 seatframes.

Trying to keep a black/red motive in the car. Steering wheel, shift boot and knob, seats..

Quote from Michel 4AGE :Hey Scrabz, why the waste of time and $$ when you can just throw in the BT20v ? Put some nice 75mm stacks on it and you're good to go.

The conversion itself costs almost as much as the 20v engine. I want a 16v, i like it more. Engine will be decent build though. Cams, pistons etc..

Wait, so you went out to rent a normal road car from a normal rental company and then you went to a trackday. But you also did a race on the trackday?

What?

Correct, and that's why my Charmant can use many many KE70/AE86 parts.

Just bought some AE86 seatrails wich will fit perfectly. Went to buy a wheelbearing yesterday. Description was only for Toyota models

Failed car inspection. One leaking damper front left, ordered some red koni's for front. Found them new for 100€, gonna use yellow koni's on the back afterwards and some lowering springs until i find a decent coilover set.
Also one windscreen wiper was missing it's blade haha, didn't notice that as it didn't rain for days here

Well, to be honest. To most people who don't really know what it is, it's some old crappy Daihatsu.

But knowing that it's basicly AE86/KE70 makes it awesome. It has the old 1300cc 4K Toyota Engine etc... For now. My mate has the 1600 4AC engine. No more choke needed etc..

So I'm building this as a weekend driver and racer. Want to enter oldtimer events with this. Not really going drifting. It weighs around 800kg, gonna chuck full AE86 suspension on it, fit a 4AGE in it with carbs. Want to make around 150bhp. Then it's really fun.

Ah to get back at your rusty part
It has near to no rust, that's why I bought it also. Very very solid.

I bought the Charmant!

KE70 are hard to find over here and more expensive. Well the Charmant is even more exclusive. So me and my friend will have to only two registered in Belgium.
I gave the guy 1100€ for it.
Nearly no rust underneath, under the doors, the sills, the pockets in the boot
Just some interior cleaning en give the car a decent wash and polish...

Looking forward! I've been looking for bike carbs to put on the 4K engine for noww. Sounds soooo good!

Going to Brussels in the afternoon to look for a Daihatsu Charmant. Small light RWD car, based on the AE86.
Will be my new oldtimer project to drive on the streets

Offcourse they'll have to win the worldcup. Riots, protest allready happening. If they loose, it will be another hit. Was a bad move to host the WC there.
