Since there is no oil/water temps in LFS, then what are the chances of engine failure during a race? Is there a way to run the engine too hot during a race to the point of failure?
From what I have read and heard...these "technically dodgy" tracks were made at the request of Intel for the BMW Sauber. ISI is sharing them with it's users.
Like I said this is second hand information.
@ Boris..your cars jumping around like a cartoon, it's just you. I have never witnessed this.
Well had you explained yourself correctly in your post I wouldn't have put you down...thank you very much!
Yes, I understood the building part and thank you for clarifing your point. The buildings or as you call them (boxes) are there for the immersion. Whether you look at them or not. If they weren't there you would be complaining on how lousey the track looked.
I don't understand your 2 FPS issue at all, even at lowest video settings. I will admit there have been cases of that happening in "some" conversion tracks (mainly RD3 conversions) when a car would hit the wall or some other damage related issue but this has never been the case with ISI tracks. I have owned rFactor since it's release and NEVER had a problem with it. So your claim of "so much problems" is invalid. Maybe you have had problems, and for that I am sorry, but most users do not have any more problems with this game than they would any other. And your Anti-Virus conflict is in the readme.chm under "known issues" if you had bothered to look. It could have saved you hours of head scratching.
Last but not least. ISI devs DO give a f*ck! They care about their users every bit as much as the LFS devs do. They respond in the fourms and give help and tips just as much as the devs do here. More developers should take note and follow suit.
The new Monza track is awesome. Your issue with your 2 FPS is on your end. I haven't seen my frames drop below 60.
And WTF are talking about "friggin boxes" on the side of the front straight. Is there a sidewalk or something your trying to drive up on? Try the track, its much easier that way.
I have to agree with this to some point. ISI's FFB isn't total rubbish but it does need tweaking. I actually use the FFB settings from GTR2's config.ini, and its close but still not the same as LFS. Then again maybe it's my wheel. I have a MS Sidewinder FFB, until the the new G25 comes out in October.
And that's your opinion, I can't say I agree with RSC "supporting" that type of behavior, although I do see it.
Your second paragraph describes marketing practices. Look at GTR and GTR2...fancy packaged "more of the same" "new & improved". In time LFS S3 will do the same. Maybe some new cars, new tracks, but pretty much the same thing. It's not called mediocrity but marketing. You provide the public with what they will purchase. LFS will be no exception to that rule. The devs have to make a living too.
I like them both LFS and rFactor. I even like GTL and GTR. I have them all, and will most likely buy GTR2. Although I spend most of my time in rFactor.
I also like Operation Flashpoint and Americas Army, anyone want to debate those? <I was just kidding about the debate>
My machine is a 1 year old high end machine also and I have no trouble at all with rFactor. I will say that the graphics between the two are fairly comparable, my frames are about the same with both. I like the earthy tones of LFS but I find everything too sparkly. I am struggling with finding the happy medium between sparkly or too being too rubbed out looking. But overall the graphics are very nice. In rFactor there is some sparkling usually in asphalt on converted tracks but I know how too solve that problem. I will say though, that a lot of converted tracks are too bright and over saturated in color. As for the blueish look, I have calibrated my monitor to 6500K Daylight. I believe most monitors are set at 9500K which is way too blue, I could be wrong though, have been before. All in all I play rF alot more than I do LFS. But they both look really good IMO.
