Quote from Storm_Cloud :I had the most trouble last year with oval "experts" who seemed to make up their own set of rules - like don't overtake if you're the third car in the draft and nonsense like that. They then took it upon themselves to mete out their own punishments to the guys who did not do whatever passes for conduct on FM Oval Junkies.

In my opinion FM is what we should look up to. They actually are the measuring stick. Obviously their interpretation of oval racing is the best and various facts prove this.

It is about oval events in genral. It would be most regretful and disappointing to see races beeing wasted by factors that could or better said should have been eliminated in the preceding period. In practice number 2 for instance you can see a process which is even more annoying than a crash: you have cars like 09, 24, ... driving in a way that

1. outrageously slows down the drivers next to them
2. does this because the other drivers are confused and in the same time must avoid accidents
3. finally causes accidents
Official Petition

Dear NDR-Officials,

I hereby hand in a petition to exclude drivers which lack the basics of oval racing from the 2009 Kyoto 500.

Beeing interested in having proper racing with respective conditions you are asked to mind the fact that a considerable number of the NDR CART - participants appear to not be familiar with oval racing. Since the time remaining until the special event is too short for them to gain the necessary experience it is highly recommended to take precautions granting acceptable conditions for the professional competitors on oval race tracks.

yours sincerely

Since practice session 2 was a calm one without safety cars i decided to join number 3. However. Now i finally have fullfilled the requirements for the participation at the Kyoto 500. Hope I'll be able to join more sessions.

My point was not the difficulty of driving. Of course a driver must have the necessary qualities if he wants to compete in such a race. What worries me is a development this series might go through - namely becoming senslesly restrictive - like most of the series in both rl and vr. Now Thilo after reading this i can imagine you thinking "if u dont like it, then fv<k off". Well, I am worried because this series does mean something to me. To be more precisious: it is the best i know (im talking about the open wheelers). Yet you will find that talking about overrestricted is exaggerated by far. Well better too early than too late.

Quote from Ki-Men :some questions for Kyoto 400

2) No R3 (+ R4) tyres

are you really serios, no r3 tyres ? You must be jocking , r2 tyres on this track wont last 20 laps, ekspecialy on the front . outside.

Same opinien here. Forcing us to use r2s definately is a decision u should reconsider.

This might not be the most important aspect of improvements but it definately is one to be discussed.

My opinion on the skins / payment / lowres/highres is:

1. If the developers want to make money, then my god there are other, better ways to do that. To be honest paying for highres skins i find is a sorry idea.

2. The creator of the skin should be able to decide whether others can use or only see the skin. Of course this means changes in LFS are needed but i think the time put in such changes is well invested.

3. Connection: Guys c'mon. If u can play 3D games/sims online then u have a connection that can do some mini-downloads -even if the skins are 4096x4096.

4. Obviously the best solution to this is a feature making it possible to download all the skins published so far and updating atomaticly. This could also be widened by showing the wheel/tyre/... the other driver is using.

I have seen a video similar to the one u posted but in urs the effect can be seen even better. Its exciting to see what LFS provides. I did a bit research on virtual aerodynamics and what i know so far is that working on it is something u can find a good occupation.

Position and speed?
Ori

Hi guys

i searched several times before posting this and here it goes:

I have had numerous races on Kyoto 1 where the posotion shown is wrong. I checked the replays and noticed that when drivers are close to each other the position shown does not only depend on who is in front but on the speeds - at least that's what it seems. Sometimes even when you are at someones back it showes you are in first or vice-versa.

I will go through my replays. Maybe i have one showing what i mean.

I'm glad i opened this thread. We should have one where all the cars equipped with active wings are listed

Checked the Veyron and the McLaren so far. Both quite impressive. I wonder how hard it can be to create something like that in vr.

@dougie lampkin: I think i have seen a video showing the veyron doing that. Other than that the only car I can name right now is the Fioravanti F100. I used to drive that car on Supercar Street Challenge just to see its wings move when braking. Are you sure there are Lambos doing that?

@ DragonCommando: read carefully.

@ bunder9999, shurecool and all the other guys on that mental level: please ...

Serious Aerodynamics and other

Hi Guys,

Here some suggestions:

- One of the most interesting aspects in engineering to me are the moving wings. The developers could bring in cars (preferably prototypes), on which, while braking, the wings rise / move up. They could move paralel to the brakes.

- Since LFS is one of the very few makings that can be titled "simulation" and features aerodynamics-effects, it would be interesting to see them beeing used on tracks where, with the necessary downforce, u could drive upside down. Such tracks could have a special category (simple example: "special tracks") including pipes.

- A Wind Tunnel. :heyjoeani

- 8-track. An 8-track would make LFS even more lovely. Looking at the great community it actually is almost oligatory.
EDIT: A proper one of course, which means proper dimensions and proper layout. No autocross- banger- ...-whatever.

- 90°-banked-turns. Something certainly not needed bad but tracks with sharp corners beeing driven with full throttle would grant fun. In this track category 90°-banked ovals would obviously be highly recommended.
EDIT: thx to dougie-lampkin and Bob Smith.

- In a far future, when we will be driving LFS S80 with vr-devices, the developers could bring in a feature allowing you to create your own car.

So much for now. If i have some more ideas i will post them here.

temporary skin

Hi stewards

i have problems with my pc and will try to set things properly as soon as possible. As u saw in the pre-season-event i was racing with a skin that did fit to the rules but other than that was not much of a deal (in fact it was Falke's template with necessary text added in order to not be respectless. my graphic card had broken just that day). For now i will use this one. If anything changes i will let u know.
