Although Kimi is technically the better driver, I was happy for either Alonso/Renault or Kimi/McLaren to win the championship . . . because they are both british teams

Quote from FunkedUp :Yeah I know, it's still pretty easy to arrange.

hmm, easy to arrange . .

Its not that easy, and DEFINATELY not cheap. Rental karts are completely different, but still great fun!

theoretically its possible, but it would take a bit of effort! the pick ups from the fuel tanks/valves in the engine/many other things would need to be fixed to run upside down.

Dont have those probs in a sim though would be fun for a laugh.

What track is it doing this on?

Some tracks, especially the SO tracks will cause this due to the uneven braking zones lifting the weight off one of the wheels. You cant really do much about that unless you want to un-balance the setup.

If its doing it on a flat surface then your setup must be asymmetrical, so make sure the settings are equal on each side.

Quote from Fonnybone :
From my experience in this community, i doubt the LFS devs would take
the 'nazi-elite' approach and punish or keep people out. Making sales is
much higher on their list than parenting some unknown troublemaker
Unless he starts annoying the devs personally, i doubt they'd turn on
a paying/potential customer. That's just my opinion though.

That would be a bit of a skewed approach, if that 1 unknown troublemaker keeps annoying people and is ignored, it will put people off the sim, meaning they wont want to play it and wont buy it.

I am very close to just switching to R-factor or just giving up all together, i have been totally unable to have a good close race with anyone on a public server without some muppet ruining the race and/or being abusive.

If things dont improve alot i wont be bothering with S3, so its in everyones interests to get it sorted! Harsher banning would be the simple solution, even if its just 30-60 days at a time to stop people saying "i paid for it so i should be able to play it"

It would give them time to practice offline.

Quote from Fragmatic :I really want to goto the race at brands, It's my "local" track, but I have no-one to go with Looks like it's going to be a great series though.

go on your own.

I have been to a couple of meetings at oulton or donnington on my own and you always find someone to chat to, even if you dont the atmosphere makes up for it at the bigger meetings.

I'm racing karts that weekend so i cant go

I always check out whos on the server looking for tags from respected teams etc. and when i find a good server its brilliant.

The problem is, 1 person can join and ruin a race and we can do absoloutly nothing to stop them. 60 day bans etc would make them think twice. Although they are obviously already quite odd for paying £24 to race and then just wrecking people . . . .

Banning keyboard drivers from certain servers isnt the answer, i have had plenty of good races with people using keyboards.

Most novices are actually ok, they will move when blue flagged etc.

The problem lies with complete morons who crash on purpose, normally picking on the lead cars. Its probably to make them feel better for not being able to drive.

This morning i shared my setup with a driver, i was leading on lap 11 and he just drove into the back of me without touching the brakes. the chat went like this

vMax.Metalstar : ??
(other guy) : F**K you!!!!!

That was nice of him after i helped him with a set.

Its these people that need banning, people making mistakes whilst racing is absoloutly fine, this kind of behaviour needs banning though, they bring no value to lfs whatsoever and im sure there are people who have left lfs because of things like this. I will be one of them if it doesnt improve.

That would help a bit in terms of less silly accidents or spins, but there are people who wait for you to pass them then just drive into you when you brake for the next corner.

it SHOULD NOT happen at all, there should be a reporting system that bans someones account for 60days or so if they get enough reports

I find it very easy to just ignore a stupid move that caused an accident, goto the pits and restart without getting too annoyed. But recently the standard of driving in lfs is at the lowest i have seen it even since the S1 demo days.

In nearly every race there is always someone ignoring blue flags or purposefully crashing into you.

I tried 4 different servers this morning and in each one, i had a back marker just smash into me without braking for a corner.

Voting doesnt help because if no one sees it they dont vote.

I suppose i just wanted to vent a bit on here about it, becuase it is annoying, but if this continues i will be switching away from LFS for good since it wont be enjoyable for people who want to have good races. What can we do about it?

From what i have found, as long as the setup isnt rediculously bad, you can get within 1 second or 2 of the pace, the setup really starts to count when gaining the last few tenths.

Matters even more in long races for saving tyres and ease of driving etc.

lol

Try selecting a higher gear if its a big problem.

other than that just be more careful with the throttle

Trust me. EVERYONE that plays LFS suffers from this.

The way I avoid it is to just play totally safe, if you are in the middle of the pack and you think someone behind will hit you, move out of the way and let them through. If you are faster you can get them back, if they are faster then its probably better that they are in front anyway. If you are at the back, hang back and pick your way through the carnage! Being at the front there is nothing to do but start as well as you can, if someone kamikaze's into the 1st corner you can do nothing but hope

If you do get hit and it damages you on the 1st corner, quickly pit (shift - S) and rejoin, you will pass the slower ones and will be further up on the grid for the next race.

dont let it get to you, I had someone purposefully ram me many many times today, just move on and get on with the race.

Keep racing You will become hooked on lfs

Quote from ayrton senna 87 :@Metalstar - I bet u have seen that a million times, karting forum lol
hehe, metalstar, heres andy getting pwned by some fool
Mind you, that driver 83 at the end looks pretty cool now

thats a pretty fast kart, i bet it could do 190mph easy (300kph)

EDIT: hmm, it says it can only do 170kph, superkarts can do about 170mph (270kph) one some tracks, and they have 20hp less...

lol, that "fool" is John Halliwell and he is actually a good driver usually, hes a nice guy aswell, him and andy are good mates so they fell out a bit over that

I had a good battle for the novice trophy in that race, it was the platinum cup shown on Motors TV a while ago, they gave us all a DVD of it. My mugshot comes up in the B-Final, missed the A final by 1 place

Quote from L(Oo)ney :Anyone want a go on this beast? Because i sure do.

Looking at around 65 bhp, for a 300lb machine. Didn't say if this was with or without driver, doesnt matter though, it will still shift. Tuned, it'll make about 80bhp..

Not been open very long...

Funny thing about those is, you could by a Stock 250 twin superkart which would leave it for dust, even a 125 gearbox would beat it still, i think with the big engined ones its about the work that goes into it aswell. sure would be fun, but would be faster and safer with a light purpose built superkart engine

someone did the same thing with a GSXR 600 engine! Sounded great but wasnt as fast by a long way,

BTW - most of the superkart engines have about 70-90bhp and weigh 250-270kg with the driver illepall

I had the same problem, but managed to change nothing on my set and solved it

Just make 100% sure you dont lock up anywhere, there are a couple of corners that un-weight the Left Front wheel and make it easy to lock.

failing that, reduce the braking force a little bit

Quote from ayrton senna 87 :im gunna come up north to get my motors done, thats half what it costs here, and your motor was blown up LOL!

Seems that way!

I get mine done by Nick Abbott at Head2Head motorsport, but i just give them to Ian Shaw at zip north and he passes them on. Maybe i get a little discount due to my dad racing him in formula E back in the day

Its the first new Herman Tilke track that I like. His other recent ones have been bland and soul-less to please the health and safety bods. With this one he seems to have been thinking about the drivers and how to make it a challenge for them. Practice and Qualifying have proved that he has definately done that. So its a good one!

The problem with new tracks is the rules about the run offs, Im all for driver safety but when you see a car on a track with asphalt run offs that are wider than the track itself, it looks like they have laid kerbs down on a Car park. No scenery or any interesting features unlike spa or Monaco. . .

Oh well, Lets hope they can overtake on this track!

Use one of those oxy action cleaners or buy a new suit lol!

The oxy stuff works ok, but i have a few oil stains that are never going to come out Fortunately my suit is red and black so it doesnt show up too much.

Rebuild £50
Rebore £18
Fische £60
+ parts and about 25quid labour.

Thats only a rough break down but its quite good

lol, I had 2 flats and a broken chain on that weekend so i am allowed the excuses. I actually finished 15th out of 34 when my tyre was flat for 6 laps so I didn't complain too much Just had to lean over a bit in some corners!

We got my engine rebuilt, with fische for 150 odd quid, Must be more expensive down your end!
