Did you use the same cable for the TV?
Could be the cable is just broken and not all the pins get connected anymore.

If non of the posts helped so far, maybe you can just adjust cursor to be transparant? You'll still see the frame, but it might be less annoying. Not much of a fix of course...

I have comodo too at high alert level, but never get pop ups unless I want to open an application...

I don't want to be offensive, but Vista is the most bullshit Operating system ever.
Almost anyone with 5.1 surround and Vista has problem. Heck, even Bill Gates himself said Vista sucked. (google it)

What Operating system are you running?
As Racer X NZ said there were technical issues with Windows XP service pack 3.
So he just boots into another Operating system, Windows XP SP2 in this case.

Although seeing your build and description, I don't think edge3147 was too far off with his dust build up.
You probably have some temperature issue on your CPU or GPU. If those get too hot, they drop capacity, but normally your pc would just reboot out of safety.

CPU temp can be seen in the BIOS at start up. Normally a BIOS takes 70% CPU usage, so you can get "pretty accurate" readings if you check after a crash.(not recommended to check like this though).

I'd advice you to install some software to log the temps of your devices.(ie. Everest)
In my experience, anything running over 85 degrees celcius MAY encounter performance issues, at 100 degrees celcius you WILL notice performance issues. Any hotter than that you risk burning down your whole computer. (Which is why they automatically switch off.)

PS: I've had CPU's which dropped all performance to 3% when over 65 degrees celcius, and there was no easy way to get around it. This was Intel though.

In my experience Nvidia is more compatible with games and other computer hardware. I've had multiple ATI cards which just didn't work on my mainboard with other hardware. Which tells nothing about which is better in performance though.

As for a computer I bought a 700 euro computer for less than 300 euro.
This is because my boss was buying more than 10 of these for his business. Maybe you can do the same and save a pretty penny. Of course this is illegal in Belgium, because everything you write off your taxes has to be present at your company.

With the 400 euro I saved on my system itself, I bought me a 300 euro graphics card and a 200 euro monitor. (My limit for full system upgrades is always 1000 euro).

This is just a hint for all people who work full-time who might be able to do the same deal with their boss.
Otherwise my next upgrade will be overclocking every clock (RAM, CPU, GPU) by 2x it's speed, just by submerging my PC! http://www.pugetsystems.com/submerged.php

It really is a shame you can't watch .spr files from other versions.
I sometimes browse this forum, coming across old .spr files which I can't look at.

Maybe there should be a .spr player out side of LFS which could play all the .spr or .mpr.

It's funny to say that the 10 men will lose. Since we've been hunting since the dawn of man, even beasts bigger than a little tiger.

First of all they would just use anything lying around, even if it's only grass, to fancy any kind of weapon, maybe a garrote.
If they knew the tiger was coming, they could set up a trap.

In a show down, eye in eye, the 10 men will stand little chance because we are cowards. But since they will run 'till they can come up with a plan, they will win eventually even if 9 of the men died.

Also with our SUPER intellect, as proven here on the forum lots of times..., we can just give him some poisonous food and it's fixed....

Conclusion: as long as those 10 guys can think for 10 seconds they win, but since most people don't think anymore they'll probably lose...

The best experience comes from racing with a wheel and this forum contains multiple threads with the discussion about them. If you can afford it go with the G27, but it makes a racket...

There are still all kind of players of all levels on S2, including Noobs and crashers.
This is less though, and you will get some serious racing out of S2 if you put some effort into it.
Although racing in demo can be pretty serious too, but this features only 2 tracks and 3 cars...

I don't regret my purchase as I think little do.
Read around on this forum a bit and get a wheel (you can do more than play LFS with it). Then decide?

I got annoyed sometime today with a multi-player race being too short.
Most of the times I don't care for not racing 10-20 laps or more.
But this battle heated up ferociously and we were really into it with 4 drivers.

Ofcourse we could just continue this battle next heat.
But I think most of you will understand why I'd rather continue the same heat.

That is why I think it might be fun to include a vote system for the lap count.
This might heat up some battles, although it probably will annoy a lot of people if suddenly lots of long races occur.

To not compromise Track Rotation you could add a maximum number of laps.
This way a track wont be in rotation for 100+ laps if there were to be 20-30 laps...

to clear things up, I look in my rear view mirrors when somebody is behind me, or next to me when he is there.
Just talking about the T1 crashers, the rammers and those people who like to ram into you as hard as possible because they themselves crashed.
I have no doubt I may have done some stupid moves which caused problems for better racers, but I apologize and this is on accident, not on purpose like "some" people nowadays.

@SparkyDave I knew that, but if you have friends with S2 you can race there sometimes as well... and watch too... just saying.

How do you know how many S2 races I've really been in or seen?
Also I do not really always pick the crowded ones, I know how messed up those can be.

That aside, please do not get me wrong.
I'm not stating 98% of S2 drivers are crap. I've never even met 2%. But I think I'm right when I say 80-90% of S2 drivers are on Private servers or closed servers. This has to be so if you look at there only being 50-70 people on S2 servers. Ofcourse there are sometimes more people as well. But mostly around 50 while there are 200-300 people with S2 racing...

My feeling is that there is a bigger % of people crashing on the public servers than on the private ones. Problem is that most of us have to improve on the public ones, because we're not good enough on the private ones.

So what I'm trying to say is buying a S2 license before you're good enough to join private servers is kinda a waste of money for people like me.

Been new for quite a while, just bought me a S2 license.
The reason I did this was because, I wanted more tracks and cars online.
Also people complain and complain about the Demo racers and servers.

Well sorry but the S2 Scene I just was able to discover 2 days straight sucks even more than Demo.... The people were LESS friendly.... Faster cars tap you ever slightly off track while they can pass you whenever they want or if you're respecting the blue flag for them.

The people I have come across on S2 are arrogant, selfish and no clean racers at all... There are some that race clean and are friendly, but a lot more on Demo servers...
Yes you have annoying people on demo servers, but not on the right ones...
With S2 there is no right public server. they all suck, and there are like 2 or 3 with people on it....
If you ask me... it's better to play offline than to see the real online public scene behind LFS.
I know there are a lot of leagues, but that doesn't change anything.... LFS S2 is not for mediocre sim racers who enjoy it now and then....

Sorry but S2 was my WORST BUY EVER!!!!!

PS: all of you who are saying LFS is dying because of lack of patch... I think it's off lack of fair, fun people who just want to race clean and improve themselves with others. But almost everyone (crash server or not) is a crasher nowadays...
If you keep locking the "good" people away in private leagues only, then LFS will surely die, because not anyone is good enough or patient enough to play between some idiot 12 year old while trying to improve to join a league...

@JPeace-> I'd like to see myselft as a straightforward driver so I just tried braking harder, later and turning in earlier. 1.36.03 because I screwed up in the latest corner... So it has improved my time by over 0.8 seconds if it was totally clean.

I'll also keep in mind my downshifting with heel toe is a out of sync at the moment. Thanks for all the info. Helped a lot.

I'll upload a replay another time since I'm doing some work atm.
And I fiddled with setups a lot and got me 1 second slower than the setups I now use from setupgrid. I mostly use the most downloaded hotlap setups.
Using Logitech G25 with stick shifter. Never ABS, and mostly on 200 degrees, sometimes 720.
