Karting here too. This was my first proper season of racing and we spent about £800 in total. We do it on pretty much the lowest budget you can do it with (getting tyres from bins at S1 meetings etc). That doesn't include buying the kart or the engine rebuild that's coming in January.

So I would say if you're careful you can get a season (12 races including winter champs) of club racing in for about £1500 including an engine top-end rebuild at the end of the year (in Junior Max).

P.S. I've only done 6 races this year, that's why I've only (that sounds like it's not a lot :shrug spent £800.

Also, in most cases, you are allowed to make one back-up of a DVD for private use only. That's according to the law though, a lot of people totally ignore that

Quote from TCannon :If you are into DIY projects, take a look at my DIY Pedal Guide. It has a design for a floor model or overhang model. It also features a pressure sensitive brake pedal. There will be a review of my guide in the December issue of AutoSimSport magazine. www.autosimsport.net. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Todd

I know it's not too expensive to build but I don't want to spent too much on it - around £40 would be good. I also don't have the time to build my own.

They ranged from 1:10.95 with high pressures to 1:13.77 with low pressures.

A note on the Pepsi/Coke thing - I usually go for Pepsi cans but Coke bottles. Don't ask why, I'm not sure

1) Have you ever bought a product on the strength of an advert alone and why?

Kinda, I've gone to a shop and looked at the packaging then bought it.

2) Have you ever bought a product because it had an aspirational advert that appealed to you and what was it? (eg Lynx ads show the product making someone a hit with the ladies)

Not that I know of.

3) Do the production values of adverts affect your view of the product? (eg Marks & Spencers vs Iceland)

Yeah, I guess. If it's too over-the-top like M&S I won't buy it, if it's too cheap (Cillit Bang) then I won't either. It's gotta be in the middle somewhere.

4) Skoda cars are made by VW yet more people buy the more expensive VWs over the cheaper Skodas because of Skoda's past image. Do you buy products based on brand name alone?

Yes, I bet everyone has at least once.

I just posted results of an AI test with FOXs at BL1

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=280316#post280316

EDIT: To sum it up, fuel consumption does change with tyre pressure.

AI 1 - 59 laps
AI 2 - 59 laps
AI 3 - 60 laps

AI 4 - 52 laps
AI 5 - 50 laps
AI 6 - 51 laps

AI 1,2,3 had maximum pressure, AI 4,5,6 had minimum.

AI 1,2,3 had 1.7% per lap usage
AI 4,5,6 had 1.9% per lap usage

It's not that much but there is an effect on the fuel usage.

I've set my AIs off in FOXs at blackwood. They have no experience in XFGs so I thought the FOX would be best for them

I'll post results here in about 2 hours or so

I found http://www.cba.org.br/download ... odromos/normas_gerais.pdf

It seems to be part of the FIA sporting code and it should help

EDIT: I found a newer one: http://www.fia.com/resources/d ... 8211263__Appendix_O_a.pdf

Kinda off-topic but I've set my server to the next combo. Server is IES Racing, it's set to 8 laps with no pit.

Does anyone want a small race tonight?

It's a DBRS9 racing in the British GT series at Silverstone. I took it with a Canon Powershot A620 and trimmed it in Photoshop. If anyone wants the original image PM me

Joystick (Shifter)/Pedals (clutch) advise

Since I found out there's not definate chance of me getting a G25 in time for Christmas I thought I'd spend some of the money on another wheel/pedals and an FF joystick.

I'm going to be using FFShifter - what's the best joystick to use with it?

Would I be best getting a second-hand DFP and using the pedals from that or can you recommend a cheap (>£30 second-hand) a wheel with good pedals?

Some of you might have seen my survey in the off-topic section a few weeks ago and I decided to offer free webhosting to people who want to have websites relating to anything motorsport (including online sims).

I have a free package and a paid package both with lots of extras.

The paid package is £1.50 per month but if you sign up before the 1st January 2007 you can get it for £0.50 per month for life!

For details on the packages and to sign up please go to www.congahosting.com

Thanks,
Danny.

P.S. If you want to sign up but you do not currently have a domain name then please enter <sitename>.congahosting.com into the domain field when signing up. You can also try www.cjb.net, they allow you to change the DNS.

IMO they can drift and powerslide but their powerslides are in a straight line. FWD cars get lift-off oversteer often so if you can carry that through the corner then IMO that's a drift. A powerslide is when you use the power to slide it (obviously) which, in a FWD car, you can only do with the front wheels, making it understeer (go in a straight line)

I hope that made sense

Quote from Bob Smith :Best possible laps from stats:
Bob Smith ____ 2:54.53
Leifde________ 2:55.18

We both could have done much better.

Yeah, I'm pretty please with my speed. I didn't do any practice whatsoever for this event so to be only 6 secs off the front-running LX4 isn't too bad

9th place

Not a good race for me but it was fun, I also got down into the 2:46s. I think I could've got into 2:45s, I'm not sure.

I think I get point(s) for that 9th place don't I? If so, it's IES's first point(s)

EDIT: Kept crashing whenever I got near Bob - very annoying

I finished the race with about 60% fuel left too.

The Beatles came from Liverpool but it's still a shithole.

Ah, the Frontier, guess I never thought of it as cowboy-themed. It was voted #2 best nightclub in Britain a couple of months ago by some magazine. I don't get how, it's just a variety club with some shiny lights on the outside

Cowboy-themed nightclub? I know there's the Hollywood place but I can't remember seeing any cowboy-themed ones.

But the most important thing about Batley is that Foxs biscuits are made there.

EDIT: Just remembered Joseph Priestley came from Birstall, it used to be a pretty nice place around here.
