WOW looks very pro!

I have one of those old arcade controls lying around, just need to set it up someday.
Can I ask how much effort/cash you put into it?

Well yeah it's enough when you have had some practise with it and set the wheel turn compensation to suit your driving. The potentiometer however will not give you as smooth inputs as the optical sensor does - which might also contribute to the improved FFB on the DFP.

DFP has an optical sensor for steering just like the G25 while the red momo uses a potentiometer which might need replacing at some point. Also the additional lock and buttons the DFP provides makes it a winner here IMO. I've also read that the DFP delivers better FFB. If the red momo is half the price of the dfp, then it might be worth considering.

Red one does 270 degrees. I like it better than the black one, mainly because of the leather wheel and metal paddles. The pedals suck though with the pivoting system. Never tried a DFP but I'm sure it's the best buy out of the three.

I'm probably talking out of my ass here but I remember reading somewhere that there's some kind of a built-in thing in the G25 (or the drivers) which doesn't allow the wheel to rotate any faster than it does by default to prevent injuries. Does anyone have more info on this? Maybe it could be overridden in some way.

If you join a server with network debugging ON (SHIFT-F8) you should see the handicap values.

Quote from kurent :Out of HD space? It happened to me.

Nope that's not it Must be something about Vista/ATI drivers I guess. IIRC it worked a few months ago thou

I tried to make a small movie yesterday but my fraps won't start recording no matter how I try it. The hotkey to start recording does nothing but I can get screenshots still. Any ideas on what to try? Fraps is the latest version, so are my catalyst drivers.

If you give it to me I'll give my R9800Pro 256MB + AC VGA Silencer to Blackout!

Now who is in need of a R9600XT?

Hello and welcome

In all simplicity - click this link to download LFS. Put in on your desktop so you can easily find it and double click it. It will then extract itself. All you need to do now is to start LFS from the folder you extracted it to by double clicking LFS.exe.

Hope this helps, just ask if you need any help.

Great, looks very good! What's the plugin needed for the videos? My FF doesn't even know what to suggest

e: works with IE so who knows...WMP11 & FF 2.0.0.3 is a bad combo I guess

That's what I thought at first, too. From another thread:

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :I realize that, but the wheel turn still matches the car 1:1, it's just that the physical wheel will still turn further after the virtual one stops. Without changing anything in windows, this is the simplest way to have 1:1 steering in LFS - leave windows at 720, and leave LFS at 720. Then your virtual wheel will always match the physical one, save for the fact that you can turn the physical one futher in cars with less than 720. If you change the wheel turn in LFS but not windows, you no longer have 1:1 steering.

I guess I wasn't too specific about what I meant, sorry about that.

When I bought a Voodoo2 card with 12mb of memory back in '98 the sales person insisted that's the max amount of mem these cards are ever going to need, hah!

After 3 disconnects I give up...It's starting to piss me off! Gotta phone the ISP tomorrow...bet they have a lot of useful stuff to tell me about how to install IE and make a desktop shortcut.

BTW, is the only way to keep the fronts cool to add positive camber? How realistic is that?

KY GP Long Rev in a FO8 would be ace, that's a challanging combo I have zero experience with. Been racing non-df cars for 6 months so it's gonna be fun! When are you online?

@BBT:  That's right, yeah...thanks for explaining! Saves a bit of trouble not having to go to the controller options. I can't feel the force lock anyways with a good amount of FFB going.

LOL! I wouldn't ever show that Tweaker's lap to anyone new to simracing, unless I wanted to make a point about a recent change in damage/physics...Horrible but amusing. Can I request a video of a lap which would actually be doable IRL too?

I like the lateral shift, maybe try using a bit of head tilt as well, makes the view shake. nice vid in any case, not dissing that!

I agree on having setup restrictions, both ways. Remove certain adjustments on certain cars and the amount of possible adjustment in LFS altogether and allow server admins to do whatever they want with the setup they choose ppl to use, exept for steering lock, strategy, wheel turn, and maybe tire manufacturer. In fact I'd like to hear one valid argument on why wouldn't it be a good thing to do. I bet most of the public server admins wouldn't even use restrictive setup options.

Quote from Bawbag :Also allowing 'some' changes? What about the people who don't know what to change?

If they don't know what to change with a small amount of possibilities, how would they be better off with a large amount of possibilities?

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :...in the sub-720 cars the wheel still works the same when set at 720

Umm, it doesn't. Your wheel would still turn 720 degrees, not 540 in a GTR car, unless I'm missing something here.

Have you overclocked the CPU/GPU? How old/cluttered is your XP install, is it stable? Do you turn off other apps before launching LFS?

I think it's a good idea and I remember someone posting about it maybe in the scripting thread. IIRC it can be done.
