i showed benchmarks where you can see in 15 games and 3 different resolutions that the cards aren't so different to explain the 45% higher price. Where you see the "day and night" difference... i can't see.
maybe it's night.
check if you have digital throttle/pedals, if the driver allows seperate control of throttle and brake, configure lfs properly and redo the calibration thing ( unlock, pedals all the way in and out, wheel left and right and then lock).
press 'unlock', then 'recalibrate axes'. at that point, steer your wheel completely left, then completely right and finaly press every pedal fully and then release it. then press 'lock'. Also you might need to change the settings in the controller's control panel (if it has any).
i found out some info about your system, it looks like a low profile card will fit in it.
it would help a lot if you could take a photo of the power supply of your computer so we can take a look at its capabilities. there's a sticker somewhere
we also need to know how much you are willing to spend. as i said earlier, $50 is enough to play lfs quite nicely. you could do it with $40 too, i guess.
stop reading right there.
kudos for the lengthy post, sorry i won't read it and sorry i have to be so condescending again (glancing at it, seems off topic, anyway)
i really really really really do not want to sound condescending or anything, but i would not trust any kind of "fix it all" software. once compromised, you can not trust anything on it, no matter how much you fix it.
your other advice, however, is very very good
Nick, can you take a photo, a high res photo of your motherboard? i am particularly interested in this: (pic to follow soon)
if it means the devs need to choose between this or something else, i'd prefer if they ignored it and work on something else.
it's not as if we're going around in lfs at 10kph
no jams either.
however, i STILL think lfs would be valuable in teaching people driving and what the car does when it goes off limits. (with custom maps, traffic that goes abiding the law with someone breaking the law sometimes, etcetcetc)
@renvon: interesting do the fps drop at T1? it's a wild difference, 3fps to 35fps which can not be explained easily unless there is something very wrong with bangerboy's pc (and we are not talking only about slight diferences in hardwre spcs)
@foilpact: read the previous thread, you can see what is the fastest cpu his mobo supports.
@bangerboy: dude, what fps do you get at starting ?
amount of memory won't be of any help.
as long as it's 512MB, or more, you are... ok (just tried and lfs with 12 FBMs has 244MB peak working mem)
loading the game will be slower (since whatever is loaded will have to be swapped out to the hdd which is a slow process), the less ram you have, but the fps you will get eventually will be more or less same, no matter if you have 512MB or 12GB

Reason : more sensible minimum RAM quantity
