Quote from mrodgers :That's good to know it is still under warranty. I was going to suggest if you were sure it was the actual motor, to see if there were numbers on it and visit an RC forum where they are very knowledgeable on small electric motors.

Okay, let's start establishing a few importants bits a pieces.

1. Fern Bay Club, 15 laps, XFG - 29th July
2. Blackwood GP, 10 laps, XFR- 5th August
3. Aston Cadet, 12 laps, XFR - 12th August
4. Kyoto Ring National, 11 laps, FXR - 19th August
5. Westhill International, FXR, 10 laps - 26th August
6. Kyoto Oval, 15 laps, GTR Class - 2nd September
7. South City Town Course, 10 laps, FOX - 9th September

Fifteen minute qualifying sessions for every race. Server open for practice sessions from the Friday before the race.

I want to keep the field small, so a ten car series is enough. If things go well for this series, then we'll extend it for the next one. I need one other person who has been racing for quite a while and who will last the entire distance to help administer the races themselves. There will be no pace car except in execptional circumstances, i.e. most of the field being wiped out in turn one. There will be no restarts either.

As for rules, I think that we should adopt the Clean Racers Club set. They are pretty basic, and common sense, and most of all, concentrate on racing. I really can't be bothered with having to use special numbers on the sides of cars etc. I'll get a full set typed up tonight or tomorrow.

Quote from unseen :I recently decided to learn to use the pen tool in Photoshop, so I chose to do this livery on the BF1 due to all the curves and edges. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but rapidly became a nightmare.

Still, at least I did get more comfortable using the pen tool, and it didn`t turn out too bad.

Here you go, some screenshots, the real car, and the skin in 1024x and 2048x, it`s already uploaded to LFSW, so go ahead and use it online.

The 2048x version is much higher quality, but if you really need to use the 1024x version, remove the _1024 from the filename.

Cheers.

My God, that is stunning. Guess we're gonna see a few of those out at BL1

Hi guys,

Thanks for your comments. I agree, the league indeed should be quite short. I know that certainly for me, the biggest problem with LFS was making the tires last. I can be a hugely inconsistent racer at times, making long races a pain. Shall we say ten-fifteen laps (dependent upon circuit) or so for each track? Longer than servers like Redline which offer a short, fun blast; short enough not to stretch concentration spans too far. Whack in a pitstop to mitigate tire wear, and we're there. Run the races within a month, and you keep interest, and once the series is over, racers can compete a second time around, or as you say, move on and up.

As for Aston Club - I reckon the reason there are so many miles racked up against it must be down to the ConeDodgers servers. They are always packed, and always concentrate on the same circuit (as far as I know). I think Cadet would prove to be a bit more of a challenge (undulations - gotta love'em) in the XF, and good fun to boot.

Jimmy, I completely agree that the route to take isn't a draconian one with penalties. There is a lot of pressure on newbies on some servers - no-one appreciates that 'Blug Flag - Move Over' messages that appear, least of all someone who is unfamiliar with the game itself.

I guess there is no real need for a definition - people who really are a little inexperienced in online racing, or LFS itself will be attracted to the series - anyone else is welcome to join, though I somewhat suspect that they'd rather compete in their own series

It will only be a small series (i.e. ten racers), as the last thing we need are the usual first corner pileups.

I have a server, so if we can get at least five people committed, I'll open it up for a practice session this week.

Oval? Noooo

Mmm. Okay, we'll whack an oval in. Give me a few days, I'll whack up a little site.

Matt, cheers, but I've already got some space etc. Thanks anyway.

What days / times are best for people? Bearing in mind I live in London

Thanks DWB. And of course I don't mind.

I was using a EOS350D, so only a prosumer. I bought it three weeks before the 400D was dropped to that price, so a little frustrating, but it does the job. Using this EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III lens.

I agree Breizh, I don't like Fuji either. But then again, I don't like Westhill!

Guys, come on. Surely Nuse, you should close this thread - the original question has been answered, and this is in danger of degenerating into the same arguement that enveloped the previously mentioned thread.

Anyway. Like I said at the beginning, I'm falling in love with this game, it is touched with genius, but I hope the developers can concentrate on the non-handling related physics! Please please please!

Johnny

Welcome to LFS Johnny. Hope to see you out there sometime.

Yeah, I know. Had a look around yesterday, but couldn't find the server on LFSW. Though that might have just been me - I was knackered. I'm not around this weekend unfortunately. Will there be time to do it on Monday night?

Quote from LazerFX :Hey guys.

Sorry I didn't get any pics of the BMW FFB get-up... I didn't have the cam on the day I did that (Friday), and Sat/Sun it was waaaaaay to busy to get close to (Plus I was watchin the important stuff - the racing on track ).

Anyone else been at the F1 and had chance to get some shots? I'll swap them for some shots of the Red Arrows

Hi Lazer,

Check this thread out.

Quote from Gunn :How about we all just chip in one Pound each and license JB's account? That way everyone can take their bat and ball and go home without breaking any windows.

Then why wouldn't we do that with anyone else? Why does anyone really care? Nuse made a mistake. Ooops. Nuse is overusing his powers. Oh dear.

Chaps, come on now. I don't think that this is the type of conversation to be having on public? Why not PM Nuse and point him in the direction of the apparently (I'm not saying there isn't - I'm just none-the-wiser) posts that discuss JB already having an account?

Can we please just put this to bed, or even better, delete the post so that we don't end up putting people off buying LFS because of all the petty sniping going on.

Well, I'd be happy to setup a little beginners league if someone was willing to give me a proper hand. I've the server available, and we could propose a four race series to get things under way.

Let's keep the circuits fairly short, as they tend to be the ones people start with. How about:

1. Fern Bay Club
2. Blackwood GP
3. Aston Cadet
4. Kyoto Ring National

Any preference on cars?

BVE can be a pain, in finding some routes that actually work properly. But it kept me entertained for five minutes or so. I think it's going to be the most advanced one you'll find for free...

Sounds good! It's great to see the FO8 being appreciated. It's a fantastic car that demands real skill. It's a shame I'm really not keen on Aston...
