Quote from pb32000 :Once my dad and his friends were travelling down to Cornwall on their bikes and one of them caught fire. The tarmac melted and the frame ended up as part of the road afterwards.

Ouch,
Ive seen the same thing happen at donington first session 2nd lap a guy dropped his R1 on the exit of redgate and caught fire,
the fire car (jag with a big water tank) was there within 2 minutes but the r1 was full of fuel and took a while to put out once it was cleared the tarmac was so badly damaged we had to close the track and offered everyone a free track evening.

Quote from tinvek :er i guess you forgot about the '70s in rallying as i never once saw a stratos on display in our local lancia dealership and it's production finished in 74 yet it went on to win the world championship in 75 and 76 as well as 74 and won the montecarlo in 79 and the tour de corse in 81 with bernard darniche. also vatanen won the drivers championship in 81 with an rs1800 despite the mk2 escort being replaced by the mk3 in sept 1980 and i have actualy seen more road going peugeot 205 t16's than roadgoing fully trimed rs1800 s

i must admit though that i'd prefer it if the cars were based on real road models and specifications, if your going to allow 4wd versions of fwd cars then why not impose a rwd specifictaion to increase the thrills for the fans.

I thought in group B they had to produce and sell 200 cars before it could be rallied? thats why you CAN buy a stratos/rs200/T16 but you cannot buy a 4wd turbo xsara/focus/307cc from the manufacturer.

yes they do now but they ran the xsara for years after production stopped

I would just prefer to see cars rallying that are simular to the ones you buy in the dealers, Wheres all these 4wd turbo charged focus's 307's and C4's come from? And why where citroen allowed to run that xsara for so long after they stopped making it? Ive not followed wrc for many years now its just so dull something needs to be changed.

Alot if not all will void the warrenty if you tune the car anyway the only new thing nissan is doing is trying to tell you its not possible and to scare you into not doing it in the first place. If you import a car from japan yourself you dont get a warrenty anyway so who cares?

And there has already been alot of tuning companys messing with the gtr changing all kinds of things so i would'nt take nissans scare tatics gospel.

The 112 limter wont be a feature on the uk cars as its a japan only law, Just wait for the V-spec to be realeased its meant to be a beast 150kg lighter and 70bhp more but prices are supposed to be around 75-90k But is meant to be 18 seconds a lap faster than the GTR which is not slow round there.

I +1 with everything he's said.

Yes people move on from karts but everyone has to start somwhere, Look at Valentino Rossi he did'nt jump on a 200bhp moto gp bike and say everything else is just shit.

Agreed,
I think the worst ones are the new astra ones which show the car on a fantastic twisty mountain road and press the "sport" switch for a more responsive drive with you (useless) panoramic *spelling* roof

The fact that the car will spend most of its life doing 4mph on the m25 in the rain or getting its doors dented when parked in a supermarket or have 2 kids in the back filling the footwells with Mcdonalds cartons and fries while the mother and father argue would be far to off putting to be in an add so lets all be under the impression that we will be in motoring bliss driving on twisty mountain roads

I never want another car anyway id rather get the train!

Snow foam is a pre-wash to remove heavy crap stuck to the paint before you wash the car. if you dont do this you will add swirl marks

The best way to detail a car if it has no paint damage (and how i do it) is to rinse - snow foam - rinse - hand wash using a wash mit (not a sponge) and 2 buckets one with soap and one with clean water to rinse you mit - rinse - clay - wax & seal

Wax wise i use samurai swissvax

http://www.swissvax.co.uk/products/wax-products.asp

shampoo johnsons baby shampoo is awesome... no really

id say i have spent around £500-600 on products and equipment but that does include a dual action machine polisher and heads for it.

Quote from sam93 :I know the Gixer thou engines are great. Just thought why not invest for that little bit more power, but if thats all his budget can stretch to fair do's. The 1000 engine is a great engine.

I would'nt say his budget has anything to do with it. I'll bet you a good condition 1000 motor loom ecu etc costs the same as the busa gear.

And i think the main problem with seal damage is when you mix dot 5 with 5.1 (but im not certain) you have to make sure if you change fluids you remove all the dot5 first.

I dont know why srf says its dot4 but they say the same thing about the motul rbf600 and that is rated far above dot 5,

This site has a good chart at the bottom for comparing fluids

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/BrakeFluidComparison.html

The ate super blue fluid (which is dot4) on that list shows fluid temps far above the spec of dot5 so does that mean ate have got it wrong?

Well as far as i was aware castrol srf is DOT4 and is rated as one of the best (if not the best) brake fluids you can by.

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/ ... =MSPORT&pcode=CAS1767

ED: Motul rbf600 gets good reviews aswell (also dot4)
