Quote from Nick A :Does anyone else think that this week's races are too long? I think for a post-season fun week shorter races would have been better.

I'm not really enjoying the Legends car. It is a thrill to drive in some respects because it's pretty twitchy but I don't seem to be able to find a rhythm in it. I don't think I'll be driving it again, especially because I find the Solstice feels very realistic which gets me really immersed in the game. I think if I was American and understood what the Legends is about I would enjoy it more, but as it is I can relate to the Solstice so much better.

I agree the legend is good for short track ovals and small roadies. Laguna is way to big for that car.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Thats good to know, at least I can have the massive accidents that usually happen when I try and play games like that with a gamepad without lowering my safety rating. Its the same in LFS actually, when I crash on my own its never a small crash, so if or when I get it I should be able to fully test out the damage.

I sent you a PM to make sure you see this cuz I don't want to see you buy iRacing and be disapointed but you can't use a gamepad with iRacing.

Quote from Crommi :Just bought Radical and took it for a spin around Silverstone GP.
That huge rear wing sure is not just for the looks, it adds HUGE amounts of downforce and even small adjustment will have dramatic impact on corner behavior. I loaded baseline setup and took it down by one click and also fiddled around with ARBs to kill some of that understeer. It's still completely different beast than Skippy and you must avoid going on throttle too early or you're going to understeer off the track. But do it right and it's amazing how fast it changes direction and way it flies through Maggotts is just incredible.

Now... off to testdrive Mazda

Last night I bought everything I was missing. Daytona, Silverstone, Barber, a bunch of ovals, the SK and Silver crown. I now own everything. Barber is so well done. The elevation is so different then the one we got in rFactor. Amazing track. I really love the SK. Love seeing the suspention arm moving up and down. The sound of it is so cool. I was unimpressed with the Silver Crown. But will be fun running that car on the high banks. Daytona was as expected. Great fun track with the Radical.

Quote from Mackie The Staggie :I have seen a few driver intentionaly wreck other drivers, mainly in the oval field. A Diplomacy degree is needed sometimes in oval racing, due to the nature some touchs happen, yet people can get really worked up about it, with some going to the extreme length of intentionaly wrecking others. I know the guy I did see (others I've heard about) got banned within 12 hours of the report going in agaisnt him.

iRacing don't mess around. Be a dick, a troll or wreck people and your out the door. What do they call it...being Zerkled

Quote from Crommi :I guess it's related to browser then, have to use Firefox for iRacing and I don't like it one bit. Could be some settings messing it up, although I've only changed homepage to iRacing and that's it.

Could be as I am using FF.

Quote from Crommi :I wish they could work on forum software a bit if they have time. It's friggin' driving me insane when I can't add spacing just by hitting "enter". Instead I have to remember to add "<br>" tags everywhere.

Edit: Ah nevermind, it seems to happen if there's any code in the message, such as url or image tags. Imageshack thumbnails break it everytime. I just can't figure out how to use attachments

No problem here either.

Quote from PLAYLIFE :Yeah, I'm laughing my ass off here. While we are at it let's make fun of all the other people that we cannot understand too. Let's send all the gays to play iRacing!? Seriously, I've had enough of the cruisers/drifters bashing. And if you want, you can continue, but I warn you it will be met with hostility. P.S. I don't cruise and drift - this is for everyone who can't think further than they can throw.

Wow, Road Rage.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Are all of you guys using wheels? I would be interested to hear if someone has managed to be competitive with a gamepad or any other type of control other than a wheel.

iRacing is only compatible with a wheel and is forced cockpit view.

Sure the thread has gone off it's original topic. But you have to give props to the LFS community for keeping all the related iRacing topics to this one thread. Be happy there isn't ten different threads about it.

Of all the places I can read about iRacing I find that I enjoy this one the most. iracing forums seem to be riddled with "WTF you hit me!" threads and RSC is about "Anyone got an invite?" Even if I haven't posted much here I find it refreshing to read the LFS communities thoughts on iRacing.

I have the same problem but it's to the right. The G25 recalibrates it's self everytime you turn on your computer. There is not much you can do.

Quote from Meanie :Hello.

Do you guys have any idea as to when the people who were invited by beta testers (those 10 ones which each beta tester could invite) will be able to join this "first wave"?
In fact I guess those 10 invited people from each tester are the ones who will be called the first wave. Is that it?

Anyone with a invite already got their "go ahead" for subscription or something?

It could be as early as this weekend or most likely next week.

Quote from Technique :Yeah I've seen this video and the results aren't surprising. While the new Miata may have more sporty gear ratios, it's also designed for americans The suspension is soft even on the sport model and it has more cup holders than most 4 door cars I've been in. Grassroots motorsports ran a comparison with the second generation and found the older model was quicker on an autox track even though it has 30-40 less hp.

I'm hoping iRacing will eventually have something like a spec solstice series with large fields. Whether it's a solstice, miata, it doesn't really make much difference although the lighter miata would be more enjoyable.

You have to admit this looks like fun:

LOL, nice race. Very aggressive on the start.

Quote from ajp71 :I love the senseless fanboyism

Still you have to admit, while not exactly the same, the fact that the models closely resemble the real tree is impressive. Most games have gone as far as modeling buildings. This is a hole new level. It seems iRacing is placing building and objects, not only the track, at mm accuracy. That helps a lot when picking out braking points in the sim and taking that to the track if you are using iRacing for training. Imagin picking out a tree in the game as your braking marker and you go to the real track and that same tree is there.

Quote from Ahriman4891 :I have a feeling that many folks think Solstice is "boring" because it's American. However, according to this video, the platform is really not bad--the only complaint Tsuchiya had was overly long gears, which as I understand is fixable as soon as your safety rating is a bit up.

Personally I look forward to it. I enjoy the close racing you get from the low powered cars in LFS. But from what people are saying once I reach the Skippy there is no turning back. They are suppost to be a hell of a good time.

Quote from Ahriman4891 :Just curious, if they had the Miata instead of the Solstice, would people complain?

Of course they would. People will always fine something to complain about.

Quote from Technique :Sorry for stirring up trouble... please go on with your regularly scheduled iRacing bashing..

To much money...To little cars...no leagues...Ripoff...rental...Solstice sucks...What's a legends...Safety rating unfair...lol, no yellow flags...wtf can't pit...

That should cover it.

Can't wait for my invite....woot!

All those that bitch about iRacing costing money and that you don't want to pay because you can get racing free somewhere else. Well here is a perfect example of your free racing. Sorry to hear you are closing up shop.
