New Version 0.6K

Dear LFS Racers,

We are pleased to announce a new version of Live for Speed, 0.6K, which contains the Rockingham race track. Located in Corby, England, Rockingham is an oval track with many infield configurations. Thanks to the owners, we were allowed to hire APR Services to laser scan the real track area in 2008. It has been a long time coming but we are sure you will like the result!

New Version 0.6J

Hello Racers,

We are pleased to announce a new update of Live for Speed with some very good performance improvements. Various systems have been updated to reduce the work done by the graphics card and the CPU. The simulator runs more smoothly and you can choose a higher frame rate or run your computer more efficiently and consistently with a limited rate. This is a great help at the highly detailed Westhill environment released in the 0.6H update. We have improved the frame rate limiter (in Misc Options) so Live for Speed can run very accurately at the rate you set.

New Version 0.6H

Dear Racers,

A new update of Live for Speed is available, with a newly rebuilt and extended version of the Westhill racing environment. The International configuration has been improved and a new National configuration is included, along with two kart tracks which are fun for the smaller cars. The access roads are driveable if you select an open configuration, so there is a lot to explore!

There is a new feature on LFS World, which is the Encounters tab in the Racers & Hosts online window.

Version 0.6E : new multiplayer system

Hello LFS Racers,

We have released a new version of LFS with a much improved multiplayer system. While using the same physics as 0.6B, it provides a much smoother, more reliable and interactive online experience. In previous versions there were often delays and lags on busy servers, but the new one works in a completely different way. We are still working on the new tyre physics and additional content, but had to take some time out from that because some hackers found a way to go online with no user name.

Progress report of 2011

Dear LFS Racers,

We hope you had a good year in 2011. In June we released 0.6B, the best version of LFS so far. Since then we have been continuing to work towards the new tyre model and the S3 upgrade which we plan to release after the physics update.

Hotlaps re-checked & now only 0.6B accepted

It's been a little over a week now since the new patch 0.6B was released. We have re-checked all 55000 hotlaps with this new version, because it contains better collision detection. So many South City hotlaps have been deleted now, due to wall-hits.
Around 2000 hotlaps have been removed. Not just because of wall-hits, but pit-stops during hotlaps are no longer allowed either. And some replays went OOS in the new version.

We have decided to only start accepting hotlaps driven with version 0.6B now, because of these differences.

New version : 0.6B

Dear LFS Racers,

We are pleased to announce a new version of Live for Speed with many updates and improvements. The new tyre physics model is still in development, so this version uses the old tyres but with an improved collision system, open track configurations, free view mode, and much more. It provides some interesting new features for LFS racers, while we continue our development. Thanks to our forum members for testing over the last eight weeks!

A blast from the past

Hello LFS Racers,

Inspired by some community members trying to get an old S1 version working, with some success, we decided to see if we could help. After digging up the source code for a reliable old test patch S1H6, released in March 2005, in a few hours it was up and running again. Three small changes were needed so that :

LFS Benchmark site updated

Hello all,

The Unofficial LFS Benchmark website had gathered some dust, but it's back now.
There is a new Z28 replay available, for a fresh benchmark listing. I think all the new hardware components that have become available since the last update have been added, so you can give your new system a whirl again and see where it ends up on the list. If one of your components is missing and you cannot accurately enter your system details, you can drop a note in this news item, mail lfstech via the usual means, or drop by on #liveforspeed

Vote for the next LFS T-Shirt design

Hello racers,

Several dozen people have created an LFS T-Shirt design over the past couple of weeks (forum thread) and now the time has come to cast our votes and decide the best 5 designs. From those 5 we LFS devs will select the winning design and with it create a limited edition T-Shirt for the LFS Shop. The winner will receive one of these for free.
