GT World Series is ready for competition

The 2014 season of the GT World Series is just about 3 weeks away from its first official session of the season at Westhill International reversed (WE1R) and it is finally time for all details to be revealed and the applications to open. The GT World Series is the result of the previous years' GT1 and GT2 World Series being joined together to give a multiclass endurance racing experience.

The championship which will start in October 2013 and run until early February 2014 will contest 5 events over the course of its season with race lengths ranging from 6 to 12 and up to 24 hours. Races will always take place on Saturday, with two qualifying days replacing the pre-qualifying format seen previously. All teams will now have a chance to set a time in each of the 30 minute long qualifying sessions on the Sundays and Fridays prior to the race. The fastest time from both sessions will determine a team's starting position for the races. Races will be started with the usual rolling starts after a pace lap behind the safety car, which might also appear at any other point during the race for any major incidents on-track.

For now all teams entering the series will only be allowed to field one car per class, should the car count required it that limit may be opened up a bit later on.
