2012 World TBO Championship Series Registration Opened to the General Public

Registration opened to the general public today for the 2012 World TBO Championship Series. This will be our second season of competition. Last year was a great success, and we look to build on it for this year. Restrictions will remain the same, the admins will largely remain the same, and the cars will remain the same, but that's where most of the similarities stop.

This year we have decided to make the change to a typical lobby gridding format as opposed to the on-track gridding which we employed in the 2011 season. This will certainly save time and confusion for all of those who are involved. Also, we have greatly reduced the number of objects included in our race layouts in order to keep things simple. Race distances have been shortened for the most part by only a few laps in order to give those competitors who wrestled with tyre issues last year a fighting chance.

We have made the start and restart rules a little clearer and stricter. All starts and restart will be double file this year, but all competitors must cross the start/finish line completely behind the car which is starting directly in-front of them. There also is a new restart area on all tracks in which the leader is to accelerate within. When the leader begins accelerating within the zone or reaches the end of the restart area, which ever occurs first, the green flag will be displayed by Race Control. Those around the leader should key off of him rather than the green flag in order to accelerate. Those in the back of the pack need only follow the person in front of them to the start/finish line before attempting a pass. These rules apply on all race starts and restarts. This method has been proven to effectively spread out the field prior to turn one in oval racing and we are confident that it will work even better in road racing.

Yellow flags will be called more sparingly this year in order to keep the race green when possible as well. A stranded vehicle or a track blocking crash will be the only instances that a safety car may be deployed unless there are server based connection issues which could issue a red flag.

This year each vehicle in the series has a skin template which will be required to be layered over all competitor's skins prior to submission. The template will include the Realistic NASCAR logo and the 2012 World TBO Championship Series logo on each side of the car in the rear. The only other skin requirement will be that the competitor's entry number be displayed on both sides of the vehicle legibly. All skins must be posted in 2048x2048 form to the official skin submission thread 36 hours prior to their use in competition for broadcasters, admins, and other competitors to download on race day. Failure to use a submitted and approved skin will result in competitors receiving a drive through penalty at the drop of the green flag.

Upon registration to the series, competitors who did not finish in the top 25 in points in 2011 will be required to submit a SPR of them hot lapping three consecutive “valid” laps at one of the tracks that the series is scheduled to compete on within 104% of World Record in the vehicle which they registered. No restrictions on the vehicle are required for this replay.

Those competitors who finished the 2011 season in the top 25 in points standings have been given a chance to per-register for the series. This period of time is now over and the general public is now given the opportunity to register for this great series.
