All-wheel-drive Winter Series

UM21 takes the first non-spdo win of series, while Reno wraps up 2 titles

The final round of All-wheel-drive Winter Series using the slower car RB4 GT was held at custom racetrack Aston Club Cross. The difficult track didn't gather too many drivers - only 12 drivers took part in qualifying, but just 9 of them actually started. The fastest in qualifying once again was Reno from spdoRacing, who clocked 3:04.06 around this 5.1km long part tarmac, part grass surface track with huge width variety. This bonus point for fastest lap in qualifying practically sealed the AWS RB4 Master title,as noone else could overtake him in standings, since Fade was absent from this race.

In the start the polesitter felt so comfortable about his chances in race, that he just let everyone by before turn one and started the chase from last place. Unfortunately chasing was so agressive that he managed to get involved in incidents with 2 MTDXZ drivers, and got penalized (so got also Fuller).

Meanwhile finnish Master #21 led the race from turn one to finish line, doing great job by keeping all oponents at bay, finishing 4 seconds ahead of Inferno's Klouczech from Czech Republic, while Reno finished 3rd,but due to penalties he lost 2 positions, giving the official podium finish to his compatriot K.Raudsepp, who is representing Savage Simsports.

Due to his absence,Fade now lost lead in series to his teammate Reno, who has now a healthy 12 point lead in standings with 2 races to go,while Rony keeps his 3rd position with 15 point lead over closest rivals and is the last possible contender for main title, but needs quite a lot of luck to win it.

AWS RB4 Master title goes to spdoRacing's Reno, who took all 3 pole positions, won 1 race and finished in top 5 in both others and also set the fastest laptime in all 3 RB4 races. By winning the last round,Master #21 slipped up to 2nd place in AWS RB4 Master standings, tying points count with Rony, but due to lack of wins, the latvian driver has to settle for 3rd place.

With one round still left, the AWS Cross Challenge champion title practically also is wrapped up Reno, who could lose it only due very unsportsmanlike behaviour, since he is in some sort of probation from actions in last round. 2nd in standings is Rony, followed closely by winner of the latest race, but since 3 MTDZX members have withdrawn from AWS,seems like there will not be any serious battle for 2nd place, unless they change their thoughts.

In AWS Teams Championship spdoRacing remains in lead by healthy distance, but battle for 2nd heatens up with every round,as Master Team Drivers Zero X-treme retakes the 2nd position and leads by 2 points over TheReality Racing Team, but the battle seems will be ceased due to withdrawal of half of MTDZX drivers.

AWS Nations Cup is still possible for 3 countrys - Latvia still leads the standings, but sees their lead decreased in last 2 races and now is 17 points ahead of Estonia and 26 ahead of Finland with a maximum of 60 points still available. Serbia is also within the 60 points mark, but has only one driver eligible for final 2 rounds, denying any chance to score maximum points.

Round 5 official results / Series standings

February the 20 will see the start of final phase of All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2012 with Super X 100,hosted at 745 meters short Fern Bay RallyX Green track - 100 laps around this track assumed to be the hardest race of the series both physically and metally. This will be the final race for already decided AWS Cross Challenge title. And the season finale is scheduled one week later at the fastest of all LFS tracks - Kyoto Ring Oval! A total of 28 drivers are eligible for these 2 rounds, both rounds have hotlap qualifying as stardart qualifying could be unfair in these specific tracks.
