New Realistic NASCAR League Announced

A new league is currently being formed which aims to fill the void of American style racing that exists in the Racing World of LFS. The new "Realistic NASCAR" league which has aims to promote the agressive style of racing that seems non-existent on LFS plans on running a test event on Saturday, January 22 of 2011 with five shootout type races that will be run as though they were an entire season within themselves. Even though the points accumulated that night won't count towards the actual points standings, there is still quite a bit of excitement around it.

On the fifteenth night of December there were seven drivers who participated in a small scale test of the driving system where nearly all of the bugs in race procedure were worked out. If the moderator would have ever figured out which button controlled the Green, yellow, and White flag it may have been deemed as a complete success, but alas in the middle of the race, Race Control would press the incorrect button leading to a yellow flag every time the white flag was supposed to come out. Race Control talked with me about it this morning.

"I couldn't remember if it was Shift F7, or Shift F9 which brought out the yellow flag," he said, "but I really felt bad for those guys who were racing. That's why we have this test event for a test event I guess. I'll definitely make sure I get that fixed for the real deal."

I couldn't help but ask him which key was the white flag, "I know it pretty well, now. It's F7"

There are only 12 spots left open for the test event as of today (over a month before the actual event), and for a test event that is not too bad of a number.

The league would certainly be appealing to oval racers with nine out of its twelve events being on oval tracks, and only three road courses. Some people may find it a little boring, but I think the founder will tell you that.

"Yeah, it's not a type of thing that sounds incredably exciting, or everyone is going to go crazy to do, but I think this way there will be some excitement. If it isn't as exciting as I think it's gonig to be, at least I spaced the events out so much. From February to November we're only going to have twelve races, but I think anybody who watches them from the server will surely not be disappointed in the racing action. You know, if its just flat out hard racing that you want to see, you won't have to look any further than here."

Every race in the series is planed to be a certain number of miles between two and six hundred, which makes almost every race have a pit stop in it and last around three hours. Obviously it is not for the faint of heart or those who have busy Saturday afternoons, but for the select group of people who have dreamed of a NASCAR like series their whole lives, I suppose that the wait is over.

Here is the events and times for Realistic NASCAR Races this year. (all start at 16:00 GMT on Realistic NASCAR Server)
