The fourth round of the Apex Cup was held Friday the 18th at the highspeed circuit Westhill International with the RaceAbout and the FZ50.
Most drivers decided to go for the RaceAbout, except Joni Törmälä an Kevin Leu picked the FZ50 which has a faster straightline speed compared to the RaceAbout.
It was Marek Nasucinski from Conquest Racing who took the pole position with a great time of 1:51.01, which was 0.01 faster than the current world record. Behind him it was Jan Wiechowski, Nolan Scott and Luis Barbosa who set the first two rows of the starting grid.
In the sprint race it was Kevin Leu from Concept Racing who gained two positions in the first corners which brought him to 5th position. The top 3 drove a solid pace in the first few laps with some close racing. Nolan Scott managed to pass Jan Wiechowski on lap 4 after a little mistake from him. Both Nasucin;ski and Nolan showed a consistent pace which brought them the first and second position in the sprint race. Kevin Leu passed two more drivers during the race which put him on the 3rd place. Jan Wiechowski, Luis Barbosa and Joni Törmälä followed close behind him and took the fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively in the end.
The main race started with the top 10 reversed, Nolan Scott didn't have much luck and was involved in an accident in turn 2 which got him quite some damage on the right front suspension. He decided to pit in lap 3 for his mandatory pit stop, without repairing the damage he continued the race and drove to a 7th place which still brought him 4 points for the championship. Kevin Leu, starting from 8th drove a fast pace and was able to pass multiple drivers in the first few laps. In lap 6 he managed to overtake the first place with Nasucinski following close behind him, both drivers were on the same strategy and pitted on lap 20. Modestas Runas from Deadline Team pitted in lap 5 which gave him a clean track in front of him, so he was able to gain positions while others making their pit stops during the race and finishing in 3rd in the end. Kevin Leu took the win in the main race followed by a 3 seconds lead on Nasucinski.
Nolan Scott is still the championship leader in the driver standings, followed by Luis Barbosa by a margin of 5 points. In the team standings it's Conquest Racing who leads with Jan Wiechowski and Marek Nasucinski as their drivers.
