It gives me an error saying it can't write to data folder and, and asks if I have it installed on a hard drive. The game works fine, and simhub rumbles my but. But for some reason I'm irritated I can't launch it from there.

Yes, you do not have permission to write to anything in the LFS data folder. Try to run simhub as administrator.
