Ah that reminds me; I took some photos of rig to put on Craigslist (selling it. need cash for something productive like a bike or something)

Quote from Jakg :Another small update.

I got some more RAM from work - but annoyingly the only RAM that fits PC#2 is stuff without heatspreaders thanks to the rubbish layout of the mobo and the heatsink clearances. To make it fit it meant I had to go for 6GB of RAM in each rather than 8GB in PC#2, and 4 in PC#2.

Either way - now back to 6GB of RAM in both PC's.

Another minor update - Found some more RAM at work and got it bringing PC#1 up to 8GB and PC#2 to 6GB.

Impulse buy, but if I sell the 2x 1GB Ballistix I ended up spare with I'll get about £10 each so I only spent £15 to get 25% more RAM.

yeah same here, just ordered a RAZER LACHESIS BANSHEE BLUE..
Just upgraded my CPU and Mobo and memory

Cpu: Phenom II 550
Mobo: MSI 790FX
Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600
GFX: 2x 9800gt's

I'm running 45+ fps on lfs @ 5040x1050 with maxed graphics + textures..

I haven't attempted to oc or unlock any cores yet. I have to update the mobo bios for unlocking but I may not.

Overall an amazing improvement over my Phenom 9600 w/ ddr2

OC to 3.6+ghz NOW Do you have a decent cpu cooler?
Err. Well. I have a better one than came with it

I have an AMD copper tube heatsink rather than the finned aluminum one that came with it.

But I'm going to get a new cooler soon. Just haven't decided yet Any recomendations?

The 4-heatpipe Xigmatek (HDT-S1284EE) works great. 46C under 100% load for 25 minutes @ 3.6|1.475 vcore with fan at 100% (still quiet). Not bad for $45

I'm actually selling mine for $35, if you're interested. Thread is HERE

edit: forgot to mention, paypal changed from before, so PM me.

Well I spent a lot of time searching for decent cooler and bought Xigmatek S1283. It seems its better then the above recomended S1284. I am so happy for what I got for the money. I have Phenom II X3 720BE and the CPU is running amazing cool with the cooler.

I also very good page with a lot of test of CPU collers is on the following link. They test also under heave thermal condition - up to 150W.

has anyone purchase (pre ordered) win7? the intro price lasts until 09/08/2009 £49.99 @ pcworld online.

So far I am running Win7 RC1 and I am so suprized by the performance and overal experience with this new toy. Looks like its even better then my loved WinXP. Vista seriously suck especially with resources allocation and usage. It looks they learned themself finally a bit at MS.

I am very puzzled if to buy it as well I saw the pre-order prices are so low. I would buy however only ultimate version.

Pre-Ordered Home Premium at £44.99 on eBuyer, and Professional at £80.00.

Tempted to cancel though, and wait for a student offer, be it "The Ultimate Steal" or "Software4Students".

I'd kill myself having such a ugly bright case in the middle of my room to be honest, lol.
I never turn my main room lights off so it never seems that bright. And the only reason its in the middle of the room is ifi push it into my desk it reduces air flow. Can defently think of alot more ugly cases that this. I just like its simple lines no horrible cr*p
