Dedicated host password setup..
Hi all.. total n00b here, as far as dedicated hosting goes. Set up my first one tonight and thought I'd set a password as well. It wasn't long till all sorts of yahoo's started hopping in, going the wrong direction etc etc etc. That said, could somebody please walk me through setting a password? I know there's a simple step I must be overlooking & will feel all tawded once somebody comes along & points it out! :o As always, thanks in advance!
In your dedicated host's config file set a password in the line;
/pass=Pass :if required - password

i.e. "/pass=tiny"
Any who wants to join in must enter "tiny" before connecting to your hosts.

Hope that helps.

Edit: Oh, and if you are connected as an Admin - you can simply type "/pass=tiny" to set a password (where tiny is the password in this example).
I thought I'd already done that:

// optional: password
//pass=xxx
Count the /s, // is ignored.
Remove one of the extra "/"s.

From the LFS Manual:
Quote :
  • The / is required at the start of the configuration directive (LFS basically treats the cfg file the same as an argument)
  • Two //'s are a comment

i.e. "/pass=rx7" and NOT "//pass=rx7"
Quote from NotAnIllusion :Count the /s, // is ignored.

Thanks man, that was the issue.. Didn't realize I'd have to remove one slash, as one would think "password=xxx" to be simple & straightforward.
