is there any way to play multiplayer behind the firewall of my university?
I already managed to unlock LFS by setting the ports in the cfg to 8080, but it does not find any Servers. if this topic already exists, please forgive me

Probably not; you would have to make an exception in the university network to allow communitcation between the PC and the masterserver.

Can you join-in via specific server? i.e. without waiting for hosts list, just type in a server name (i.e. cargame.nl s1) and try connecting.

If that does work you can search the available hosts on the LFSworld and then join by using the method above...

Hmm-I dunno much about this, but as a cloud computing+stuff noob. Run a proxy server from your laptop?

Did you try fire?
That usually solves the problem for me.
