A Belgian forest track?

I wonder what that could be...

Either way, pCARS is shaping up to be awesomer than it already is.

...

Just took a few quick test laps...

It's Spa Francorchamps ! It's in a very early stage but surely a must_have in a racing sim !

Sarcasm went over your head then

Anyone else getting a server down error?

I was hoping for Zolder, to be honest
So Bathurst is out, looks good Very early stages though....go figure.
This looks great. Have g25 set up at home again now so I'll be giving this a whirl for sure...
Nurburgring Nordschleife could be interesting!
At 2:17 I honestly thought that was real-life footage.
Yep. Its crazy how good it looks.
Any thoughts about the physics? I know it's pre alpha but what are your thoughts?
They're decent enough with cars that are out of alpha stage.

At the end, unless you're an actual experienced race drivers, the physics are just what you want them to be. If you believe LFS is better out of principle, nothing will convince you otherwise, no matter how correct whatever other sim is simulating everything. Hell, there's at least one guy pretending that the sim feels like pivot physics, so there.
does it run any better in the later builds?

mine would run like utter crap if i set everything full like in that vid and i can run BF3 maxed with 100+ fps.

last build i tried was 81
Formula B at Imola.

It's a bloody pain using the menus and setting everything up so that the controller works properly. Not convinced it's all set up properly yet, will need to fiddle more.

The car understeers a lot, and the setups are such a labourious task to adjust and save. The units aren't defined, and it's not always clear which was is "more" and which way is "less". Haven't managed to cure the understeer.

The steering is far too light, and castor doesn't seem to make it heavier. The brakes are a bit numb, but that's probably a limitation of simulation brakes based on movement rather than pressure.

Playing with the throttle doesn't adjust the car mid corner.

The steering is very vague. Weaving (as if on a green flag lap) the car doesn't respond to steering inputs properly, it's like it's a road car!

The graphics are nice, with nice touches like the wobbling aerial. Smoke is poor. Flames from the exhaust are over done though. AI is crap and cheats.

The sounds it pretty poor, with nasty sampling and gaps and cuts.

Some of this is down to the beta status, obviously, and I'm aware that it isn't finished. Some of it is down to game config - finding a decent FOV and seating position is difficult (in any sim), and by default you sit far too high.

Despite the above, it's not at all bad, but needs more work from me on config and car setup. I may have to try other cars, as there aren't many threads (and hence I suspect not much interest or development) on the Formula B. So it could be I'm driving an "out of date" car that has more flaws than most.

That's a better review than most sims get from you, so it's a good start
I've been enjoying driving the Atom but am still in the process of setting things up correctly (wheel, graphics etc). I've noticed that frame rate suffers when there are a lot of trees on screen, for instance. Also having logging in issues (sometimes the game will start, sometimes not). Graphics- especially car models, are lovely but sounds seem pretty basic right now.

Fairly impressed at this stage though...
caterham's finally going to be ingame for the build that gets released tomorrow for team members
dont ya mean the lx6
now we have a car, like the atom, thats gunna sort the men from the boys
none of the slicks and downforce that i get sick of seeing in sims.
Tango
got the latest build and the caterham is fantastic, once i had tweaked the setup it became very familiar, understeer on turn in and slidey on the way out, just how i like it
oh and the sounds are great also, very mk1 escort if you know what i mean !!
Tango
I really hope I get some time this weekend to give it a go, haven't played it in at least a month and a half now I think. I wanna see how far it's come since!

...and the Atom, Kart, Apollo, Caterham...
ahh just spotted the karts. Not sure why car sim developers are so fixated on them because unless you basically design a whole new physics engines you're never going to get it anywhere near close to the complexities of developing a decent feeling kart.
