The Open Wheel Racing League has finished it's 6th overall season. Just like the first S2 season, we used two divisions, one using the Formula V8, the other using the Formula XR. Following a small change in the format, seasons are shorter and no changes are made in the divisions during the season. As such, in both division the championship was decided after four races.
Div A
The maximum score you can get in the Open Wheel Racing League at the current format is 132 points, as we have 4 races with 3 points for pole and 30 for a win. Csimpok got 129, only missing out by 3 points as he was late for qualifying at a race. Actually, he had to start last at South City Long reversed, but still managed to work his way up in a field full of Formula V8's to win by a small margin. In the final standings he is miles ahead of anyone else.
The fight for second place was won by ELR Button, who managed to get four consistent finishes where others didn't. He also was the only one besides Csimpok to get close to a victory, when he lost first place with a margin of 0.02 seconds at South City Long rev. Behind Button in the final standings we find his two teammates, making it a succesfull season for Everlast Racing.
S2 Season 3 Div A Standings:
1. Csimpok - 129 points
2. ELR Button - 89 points
3. ELR Andy - 75
Div B
In Division B the Formula XR was used for some good action and close racing. The season got underway at Blackwood and this race went very well for the Live For Speed-team of the German Gamers Club, Hell On Tyres. They won on all three div B servers. After the first race, the servers were sorted by standings, and thus the fastest drivers got to drive against each other on the same server. At Aston National, the second race, °HoT MatzeX made his intentions clear by scoring his second win of the season. He was still being trailed by -[TS]-jojo and JC, both having two consistent scores and they would both try to close the gap to the °HoT-driver.
At the third race of the season, Team Scream-racer jojo scored an important win. °HoT MatzeX could do some damage limitations at the tricky South City Long rev track with a third place. For the final race at Kyoto GP Long, MatzeX would have six points advantage over Jojo. However, it soon became clear that the German could not make it to the track for this final event. Jojo now had to finish the race to overtake MatzeX, whilst making sure he would not loose too much points to JC. JC did what he could at the last race, but jojo never lost control and a fourth place finish was enough for him, as GFsC*58sTyLe won the race ahead of JC.
The final results in S2 Season 3 div B are:
1. -[TS]-jojo - 100 points
2. JC - 93 points
3. °HoT MatzeX - 87 points
The next season will start in one week time. The top div B drivers have been promoted to div A, which might drive with the new Formula 1 car released in the patch coming friday. New drivers will start in div B.
