British Telecom a complete Joke!
Quote :Congratulations, our preliminary tests indicate that you can get NewNet Broadband with speeds likely to be around 0. A further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the speed of service you wish to purchase.

BT were down the road the other day doing some random "maintenance". I would have thought they might have been fixing something or upgrading but it turns out they were downgrading! our line yet again. About six months ago our service dropped from a pitiful 1mb to 512k today it dropped to less than 250k!.
Way to go BT you rock. I may as well have dial up.

Which ISP are you with? If it's BT then complain to them and make sure they do something about it! What's the actual package you're paying for?
Indeed, privatistion has done wonders for our utilities!!!!

Go to Venezuela for a week you might change your mind then. Socialism devastates economies. Everyone is more equal... but equally poor! The argument has been won time and time again.

Had we kept all this nationalised nonsense we would have a much much much much much worse budget deficit... and be bankrupt by now and living in complete abject poverty! But at least it would be fairer right? All this nationalisation of the bank industry has brought the country to it's knees, and I fear it may not be able to recover. Mind you the bank industry is a socialistic structure anyway with it's fiat currency and all.

Nationalisation of some industry does not equal full blown socialism, this is what those placard waving idiots in America can't work out.

Better the banks being nationalised than collapsing, in an ideal world that wouldn't have to happen anyway, that is, if bankers behaved themselves, but these things have to be controlled because they can't be trusted.

Idiots? Don't think so. See Americans have a much higher awareness of economic and political consequences of these systems.

I would have been very happy to see the banks collapse! What we have done instead is buy up the banks, print a shit load of money, and are in a MUCH worse position now than we were before. I am talking a MUCH worse position!

And let's be honest the UK banking system is a socialistic system anyway. We have a central bank that control monetary policy. Add in the fractional reserve currency system and there you go. You will find that free market economists absolutely OPPOSE centrally controlled (socialistic) monetary systems. So when people say the banks failed because of 'market failure' and 'de-regulation' they couldn't be more wrong if they tried.

The true capitalists saw the problems with our banking systems year ago... and have been proved correct!

However letting the banks collapse is political suicide! We would be better off in the long run, but long run politics doesn't win votes!

It dosen't take much more than a brain stem to hear the word nationalisation and automatically asociate it with the 'commies' (especially if that was programmed into you by your government/Fox news), nor does it take much intelligence to silence those who think differently by calling them a funny name with 'ist' on the end of it.

How would they be more aware? All I can see is ignorance and a fear of change.

Whose fault is it then?

I'm sure you'll find a way to blame 'those goddamn commies' for it all.

I think you#re the one who is ignorant. There is nothing ignorant about not wanting to have trillion dollar healthcare reform. America can't afford and are heading towards a hyper-inflationary depression. Also MANY Americans are very happy with their healthcare. In fact the number of long term uninsured people in America is smaller than the figure that was published because they included some fudged figures. America simply doesn't want the government to control their healthcare. It's fear of big government that worries them most. Perfectly logical argument to have.

As Maggie said "Socialism only works until you run out of other people's money"

At least the yanks have lively debates and politics whereas in the UK we have 3 parties all arguing over the centre...

What has this thread got to do with healthcare, or are you just stuck on repeat again?

I suppose thats why she decided it would be a good idea to poll tax everyone.
Someone mentioned privatisation, so it was inevitable that Intrepid would turn up, spouting the same old rubbish over and over. The fact he hasn't mentioned karting or the BBC is impressive though, but it's only a matter of time...

Tristan spotting Intrepid posting on a subject and coming in with the same old tired attack of "Intrepid karting and BBC hahaha I drive big cars". Either add to the debate or go away!

You could help by adding something we haven't heard before.
