how do u remove Q patch?
hi

was wondering if there is a way to remove Q patch and go back to P patch? as it keeps crashing back to the desktop. Is it still possible to play on all servers with P patch?

thanks 4 any helpful advice!
Just install the P version again, it should be downloadble at www.liveforspeed.net. Because P and Q uses the same physics, you will be able to play with P version..... But it there is a patch coming in April, why uninstall the Q? Waiting for a new version should be better

Are you sure that the patch is the reason for those CTD errors?
appreciate the the replys ORION and MadCatX! i well probably wait 4 the next patch, didn't realise it would b out so soon, yeah it seems to b the Qpatch causing probs 4 me cause its 50/50 chance if i finish a race or i crash back 2 desktop, was running as smooth as silk b4. definitely not a prob with pc as i can run much more intensive games and applications.
Just a fair warning though. It has not been said that the patch will be published on this month. All we know that there may be some info given us on www.liveforspeed.net on this month, may it be a patch or nothing, no one knows.

I would just download the P2 version and update it to the newest patch when it is released
Could be an overheating CPU, had this once. Clean your fan and/or your cooling ribs. But be aware to know how to do this, don't want that you damage your cpu and/or motherboard. Essientialy you have to take your cooling parts (fan and ribs) from your cpu and then to clean it. If you don't know how to do this it would be best to let someone that has knowledge of it doing this.
LFS kept crashing for me, I couldn't suss it out, thought it might be a driver issue, played around with a few, had intermittent success. Then one time I started getting screen artifacts and I was like "ah, hot graphics card". Dusting the card cured the issue. I cleaned out the CPU heatsink shortly afterwards too. I must be one dusty person, could hardly see the carpet afterwards.
It's unlikely to be a dusty heatsink fan on the cpu/gpu because that would cause computer resets rather than crashes to desktop. I think it's more likely to be a driver related issue, probably graphics. 'more intensive' applications could quite happily run under such circumstances also, as they're not necessarily using the same revision of the DirectX command set that LFS is.

Well, it depends if it first reaches the maximum temperature at which the computer will reboot (or the GPU reduce the clock), or cause errors first.
Baisically, if you get CTDs, it's often the system or gfx memory
Becky you are right about the drivers, I think it's worth to take a look at that, and additionally run memTest to check the ram, and ATItool to check the GPU/VRAM for artifacts. (work also with nvidia cards)
ok so far i hav,

1. tried atitool, everything ran fine, could run the card higher but put it back to default settings.

2. cleaned the inside of my pc from head to toe.

3. installed latest graphics driver

4. reverted back to LFS s2 P version to see if it was a problem with the patch.

5. ran memtest, could find nothing wrong.

and still i cannot get though a game of more than 10 - 20 minutes.

thinking of reformatting and starting from scratch?
Quote from ORION :Well, it depends if it first reaches the maximum temperature at which the computer will reboot (or the GPU reduce the clock), or cause errors first.

That´s right an that´s exactly what happened to me 2 months ago. Now other programs were not so sensible and only LFS had CTD. So I didn´t assume that it was an overheating problem although my system has this problem from time to time (due to a thing that happened which is not important here). Fact is that after trying everything from changing settings to reinstalling LFS, I looked at the CPU temperature and it then became clear that it was an heating problem. As Orion said the temp was not that high that the CPU would shut down but high enough to generate errors and thus making LFS ctd.

And it was CPU for me not GPU.

@SuperUK,
well if you cleaned everything than it is clear that the problem lies somewhere else.

Have you tried to install a fresh version of LFS or did you just reinstalled backup files (if you´ve made some) from the old LFS version?
thanks 4 reply, well check over the cpu, well let u know.
But what is the difference between Q and P than?
Improved language handling, including revised colour codes
Slightly more information on the F12 menu about pitstops
Ability to map binds to wheel buttons

Hell it's easier to do this:
Quote from Scawen :

Can use a comma instead of a full stop when entering a number
New ^9 code - restore original colour without changing codepage
Autocross editor distance measure display is now translatable
CTRL in text input box : click down arrow to show characters

Other updates :

Pit stop required (yes or OK=done) is now shown in the F12 menu
Avoiding invalid key beep on Scroll Lock, Num Lock and Pause
Faster text draw by using fewer, bigger textures (less swapping)
SHIFT+O now enters options from setup screen (same as in game)
Join screen shows selected player and gives access to options
"Corrupted NameReply" error message removed from List of Games
New /out command - ignored by LFS but seen by InSim programs
Controller buttons can be assigned to text keys CTRL+F9-F12

Fixes :

FIX : Faulty online host sometimes causing LFS to hang in List of Games
FIX : Some missing characters added to Latin 1 code page
FIX : "Race Ends : 1" message shown wrongly in garage
FIX : KNW filenames depended on selected language
