Why? Because it's an awesome road car and they needed an awesome tarmac rally car
Seems all good to me, they appear to have put enough effort and thought into it to make it better, not just orange and loud

Well, it's not like they rebuilt it from ground up, which WOULD result in a worse car, they've just improved it a bit.
Judging by the performance figures, I'd say it should definetly be better than the original

lift the hand brake on a irish rally stage and you'll find that an escort mkII has trouble fitting around the majority of turns ( namely the cavan stages, man them country lanes lanes are some of the best driving roads ive ever had the pleasure of abusing ) now - take a car thats a fair bit longer then that, tree's cover the countryside as do walls, fences etc - same effect....

If being 20cm longer than the outgoing model WRX STi means you hit a tree, you're cutting it a little fine But this is a different kind of rally, and a different kind of vehicle:
