I never understood the point of pit girls. I mean, if the cars are stopped, I'll look at the cars. If they moving, I'll look at the cars. Generally, I watch motorsports to watch cars. What do they add? If I want to look at boobs I can't touch, I'll be at home with a glass of whiskey and a box of kleenex. If I were to repeat such an act in public, I'd no doubt be arrested.

I was going to ask, if NASCAR is the slum of the motorsports world like you guys think, why does it seem that every other "superior" motorsports needs pitgirls to sell it where NASCAR only has the racing that sells?
Girls at race tracks are obviously few and far between so they get the pick of the crop, so dey can always hope to pickup a rich racing driver hubby.
Although I remember when I was karting the hottest chick at the track was a girl called Trisha who worked the cafe and all the drivers fancied her...
Which is unlucky for them really, because it was me who dated her.

Grid girls are a relatively cheap way to brand a product your trying to promote at major race meetings. They attract a lot of attention including photographers. They take snaps, the snaps go on the web, a lot of young men (and women 
) take a look at them and BAM FREE advertising on major websites. for a couple of hundred quid hiring the ladies and buying the clothing you get quite considerable returns in regards to exposure. It's hard to place the REAL value on them however. So from a business point of view they do serve a purpose.
At smaller meetings they do seem somewhat out of place, and occasionally akward, but at major events it's less so.
I personally wouldn't choose models to promote a product. it doesn't sit comfortable with me, but I am certainly guilty of strolling through a paddock and having my attention diverted!
