Any military personel Play LFS?
Just wondering
maybe we need a new subforum for these threads? illepall
My friend played LFS over in Iraq :o And he loves to play it when back home here. Ever since I showed it to him, he has loved it, and eventually ends up doing high speed 360's and 180 reverse turnarounds... you know stuntman kinda stuff

Marine Corps, Lance Corporal I think... he's a M203 Specialist.

We have, it's called off-topic.
Quote from Gabkicks :Just wondering

A couple A years ago this Italian guy was stationed in Iraq and posted a photo of himself and some Iraqi kids with a sign that said," I love LFS".
At least I think he was from Italy.

That was one of those 'fill in your own text and get a picture' scripts. It would let you type any text and it was placed on top of the sign. I believe the original sign said something not very nice...
/me awaits old war stories of people driving across fields and through undergrowth...

Tweak so ur m8 is a Propelled Grenade launcher...Since he is an M203 Speacialist
I voted "Retired". But not really retired as I've only served in the military (last spring) because in Finland we have this "great" thing called compulsory military service. Also known as the free 6/12 month fitness vacation sponsored by the defence forces. I was a anti-tank soldier.

Was your question a joke?

even old "scrap" tanks are expensive to prepare them to be "scrap" so old tanks here get into some museum and the rest get's taken apart.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I never joke about tanks. Tanks are very serious things.

At least when the barrel is heading at you.

Quote :I don't know, I've never been in the army. Maybe they have a bunch of old broken tanks on a practice range so you can fire at them?

So what do you fire at, if tanks are impractical?

In bigger exercises we had real tanks and we shot them with a simulator weapon or with "fake shots" (meaning you just had to pretend like you were shooting with a real thing and then scream "BOOOM!" ). In live ammo shootings we just had wooden targets and mostly we shot practice rockets (which doesn't create an explosion). Safety is the number one thing...

ps. FYI: I posted this reply already but then deleted it because I edited once more... but you had already replied.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I'd love to see what a rocket designed to incapacitate a tank does to a wooden target!

Edit: Am I imagining things?

Here's a practice target:

And here is a video of shooting an old tank target:

Altough the weapon in that video isn't the one I used to carry (it was this: http://tietokannat.mil.fi/kalu ... ia/1087198747_apilas1.jpg).

We also have this... A friend from high school was tank driver.
Quote from thisnameistaken :I'm totally not a gun nerd or anything, but explosions - where nobody actually gets hurt - are always fun to watch

I'm not either a gun nerd and I know nothing about them except the ones I've taught to use. The guns are the best thing in the army. The bigger the better.

Is it a selective conscription in Germany? In here over 80% of men to goes to army. The other 20% either goes to 1 year long non-military service, gets released from the service or goes to jail. Altough I've already done my "duty" this really stinks. We don't really need this in year 2006. Cold War is over.
My dad played once or twice and he's retired AF.

I've got a name for it, "Random Question Section", catchy I know.

I bet I'm not the only German here who is very familiar with these:

More because we had to clean them a lot, not because of shooting them a lot (less than once a month, LOL).
That is a Heckler & Koch "G3" witch in Sweden goes by the name of "AK4"
I am issued version 2 of that very rifle, complete with AimPoint and magazine upgrades.

Back in 1999 it was more or less universal conscription. Everyone had to go but you could also choose the non-military service or being chased by the Feldjäger (our MP)

I think the situation now is that maybe 50% have to go but you have to ask the younger guys here.
HKs are pretty cool, but too much $$$ for me.
I almost bought a FAL, but it was in pieces, packed in grease.
I own a German hand gun though. A mauser "broomhandle". I
traced the serial numbers, it was made in 1921 and it's still very accurate.
and it's fun as hell to shoot - but a real pain to take down and clean.
My favorite handgun is a Dan Wesson .357. My friend has a Glock .40,
it's nice and all, but I prefer a six-shooter as it doesn't jam and cleaning is easier and at 20 yards, my .357 is just as accurate as my deer rifles.

I'm from Texas. Of course I know a little about firearms.
