£50 Burning A Hole
My mate wants to squeeze a little more performance from his ageing AGP system before upgrading in 6 months .

Fifty quid to spend on a new GFX card, doesn't mind second hand, FleaBay etc

What's the best bang for the buck guys?

Don't bother - save the cash for your upgrade. AGP cards are extortionately expensive.
money not the problem ,really poor fps is

£50 for 6 months of being able to drive in a semi busy grid is worth it he thinks
I checked his PC today .

PSU 250w 12v-14amp

that should narrow it down a bit
Nvidia 7600GS or GT, either 256 or 512mb will be good enough. Can come in AGP and can be picked up for even less than £50 in places.
depends, what processor is the pc running on? what is his current graphics card?
Radeon 3650 or 3850. These are the best AGP cards you can get, and they're not too expensive either if you already have a high-end AGP system.
