|KR| VIP UA champion after first S2 Season in the OWRL
After 7 of 8 races, the Open Wheel Racing League S2 season 1 still wasn't decided. Coming into the final race, |KR| VIP UA was clearly in the lead with Masahara the only driver who had the chance to take the championship away from the Ukrainian. However, VIP UA did give his rivals no chance during the final race at Kyoto GP Long and scored his 4th win of this season. Apart from this Formula V8 division, we also had a championship to decide in division B (Formula XR) at this track. With a mixture of good driving and luck, Zsolt came up from 5th in the championship to win it with a victory at the final race.

As a suprise, we have 2 prices. Both VIP UA and Zsolt will receive a ENERMAX power supply. ENERMAX provides high-quality system peripherals. ENERMAX is a sponsor of the pod multigamingclan. Even though the racing team was only a recent addition to the pod team line-up, it quickly established it's name in the LFS Community.

Pre-season
The two division ran parallel for the whole season with the best div B drivers moving up to div A after every second race, if they wished to do so. To decide who started in which division this season actually started before the first championship race with two races to decide who starts in which division. This lead to a few suprises as some of the favorites to qualify in div A got struck by bad luck. The division system allowed them to move up to div A in a few races. Especially ELR Grandlhuber was hampered by this. As soon as he moved to div A, he scored a 2nd place and a victory. A couple of less impressive results stopped his march up to order at seventh.

The div A championship
The first championship race was won by Speedykev. The winner of the very first OWRL season, when we racing with the MRT in S1, looked like he could challenge to repeat that. But this was not to be. In the next three races, VIP UA layed the basis for his championship with two wins and a second place. After four races, it looked the only contest left was for second place, until during the second part of the season, Masahara emerged as the main rival for VIP UA. Masahara couldn't seem to match the speed of the championship elect, but with his consistency he could close the gap a little, helped by VIP UA missing a race. The oval race didn't change this, but this one was special as this was the one of the very few times VIP UA lost out in a fight for the lead. It was JON, another driver whose main strength is consistency, who could win this special event.

With two races to go, VIP UA was 18 points ahead of Masahara. With 30 points to win for every race, he could win the title at Blackwood if he could gain enough points over Masahara. VIP UA sure had this in mind at this race, but at this well known track he had to fight off |DM| Willi and Masahara to win. With Masahara in third he still wasn't sure of the championship and it would go to the last race, with VIP UA as the favorite for the title. He deliverd what was expected and with another win he clinched the title.
  1. |KR| VIP UA - 200 points
  2. [tsr.]Masahara - 141 points
  3. [WIT]Squale971 - 121 points
The championship fight in div B
In Div B it wasn't as clear who were in the hunt for the title. The fastest drivers were allowed to move up to div A, but some decided to stay in the FOX-division. Mix this up with a few drivers joining later in the season, and you still have a very interesting season. The oval proved to bring some interesting races before moving on to the final phase of the season, in which a whole range of drivers still had the chance to win the championship. ScP Drillmicha moved into the lead after a good finish at the oval, with spdoMisan and ScP Philkiller not too far away. As it was still very close in the standings, other drivers also had the chance to move up. This was what °HoT MatzeX and Zsolt did at Blackwood with their podium finishes, but they could only watch and see how Misan got the victory and moved further away in the standings with only one race to go.

Coming into the final race at Kyoto GP Long, Misan qualified on pole and now all he had to do was finish the race in a decent position. Exactly what he didn't do. It took only a slight error to find himself in the wall with the race over. Now he still could get the title, if his main rivals would suffer from the same fate. Zsolt immediatly showed that this wasn't on his mind, taking over the lead in the race and driving away from his competitors. Just as VIP UA did in div A, Zsolt won the title by winning the last race.
  1. Zsolt - 129 points
  2. spdoMisan - 117 points
  3. pod.Krutch - 115 points
