7300GT or 7600GS?
Ok, I know I'm talking about budget cards that are a bit out of date.

I'm currently using a GForce 6200LE 128mb and want to upgrade. I don't need anything too fancy just something better.

I'm thinking about buying a GForce 7300GT 256MB they are available for about 50 euro's.

7600GS is a bit more expensive but don't seem to differ much in specs.

Playing the latest games is not a priority to me.

My current setup:
Athlon 64 3800+
1gb ram (333mhz)
GF 6200LE 128mb PCI-E

7600GS is a much faster card than the 7300GT

That's a quick response

Does 512MB over 256 make much of a difference in my current setting?

Nope, 256 MB is more than enough.
If you (or anyone) opt for 7300gt, make sure its the DDR3 version. DDR2 version is a much poorer performer.
7300 GT would be an improvement, a 7600GS would be a better choice though. 256MB is fine for any resolution up to 1600x1200 really...What games do you plan on running, and at what res? There is some stuff from ATi that might be worth looking at.

1024x768 is enough for me. I may want to take a spin in GT-legends and GTA San Andreas.
Yeah I'd say the 76. The GTA series arn't exactly the most efficient games for PC. Just FYI the 7600 will also handle alot of popular fps and racing games at 1024x768 resolution.

if you have 1gb of ram the 7300gt works at 512mb of video, if you have 512mb of ram it works at 256mb.
Quote from ELPAPAELOSHALAOS :if you have 1gb of ram the 7300gt works at 512mb of video, if you have 512mb of ram it works at 256mb.
