Ok, Cheers
Does anyone know where I can get those CPU monitors what you see on some custom pc's, It is a LCD screen, displaying all the information about the CPU etc. Do you buy them or do you have to buy an LCD screen and get some software so it displays the CPU information?

I have tried to find them on the internet but I have had no joy.

Aerocool make one (a rather nice one) but it's about £40.

A fan controller one is a bit cheape (£20), but no-one near as configurable...

Cheers for that mate. Still haven't got the money yet though because my dad said he will see, but I am getting a saturday job when I am 15(I turn 15 feb 1st) so if I don't get the money I am either going to buy a RS50 or build a pc but my compo money I may be getting I may use to buy my RS with.

I know what people say about RS50's but if you look after them right and treat them right they dont blow up but I am going to tune mine up so it runs abit better, this includes de restricting it, Arrow Racing Exhaust and a Malossi Big Bore 80cc Kit.

Don't know if I will get my compo money yet so I may be stuck with my boring P4 for a couple of years.

Erm, Are you talking about having the information you get in the Ctrl+Alt+Delete panel being displayed on some part of your screen/desktop?

I think that's just a programme, i'll point someone who has it on their PC In the direction of this thread, hopefully he's around....

On topic with the PC, if you buy a mobo with 4 DDR2 slots then why not go for this? (Buying 2 of them)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ ... duct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL

Would work out at half the price of G.Skill ones and really at 4gb of ram I don't think your really going to notice the differnce between the two....but i'm no expert *waits on JakQ*

EDIT : On parr with the swaying onto RS50 topic, they seriously don't even need de restricted, I got on one a couple of years ago that my mate just bought, fully restricted and it flew up to 60mph where it stopped at a nice 11000prm. There a bit stupid money wise though and if your going to be tuning it your really going against the "not blowing it up" part. Also a bit pointless buying one for when you turn 16, although i'm thinking it's a typo because getting a job and a motorbike doesn't sound like the average 15 year old plans. :P

I'm actually on 2gb of the Geil sticks and for that price i'm extremely happy with them.

I haven't heard anything about an RS50 being unreliable, i just think they cost a fair amount of cash to buy in the first place.

EDIT - Fook those sticks are cheap...

They are expensive but I am used to having to buy motorcross bikes when I did motorcross and they cost alot, the RS50 sounds crap though with the original exhaust, it makes it sound like a scramber lol.

EDIT: Sticks?
Back a page, last post.

I see, Nah Me and my mates are all getting apirlia's and speedfights when we reach 16 lol. Me and one of my mates have been into bikes since we was big enough to ride them. I wont blow the bike up by tuning it, I take alot of care of my bikes I may not put a malossi kit on it yet, I may just de restrict it and put a Arrow Racing Exhaust on it, RS50's from what I have heard, they run better being de restricted.

Jakg, can you give me a list of parts if I was to build a quad core pc, I have been told I can have the money for one but I don't know how much I am allowed yet so could you build me on in the £600 range one in the £700 range and one in the £800 range please because I want to build a quad core but can't get my heaad around what parts will give me the best performance for the certain price range I don't know what parts to get. So if possible could you give me a list of parts so I know what to get when I build my Quad core system? If possible a list for each price range.

Cheers,
Sam.

Edit: Or can anyone else give me a list of parts for each price range?
Anyone?

I made a £650 build thread a while ago - swap the CPU for a Q6600 and it would be about £750.

I seen it, oh yea i left one thing out, it must also have a 8800 card, but I think nvidia are bringing a new card out if i remember rightly and plus i will be building the pc just after christmas as thats when my dad gets alot of money as he is working on christmas.

I am looking for some decent hardware at the moment.

Why must it be an 8800?
Quote from Jakg :Why must it be an 8800?

FSX Deluxe, and another game i have cant remember the name of but it needs a decent graphics card and plus i want to build a pc what wont be to outdated within a couple of years.

a 2900 Pro is usaully faster than an 8800GTS 640, and is almost always faster than the 8800GTS 320 which is actually a little more expensive than the Pro.

I think i will stay with nvidia lol never had a ATI Card and i will stay with nvidia what I know the cards pretty well and i think they are pretty well made and very good cards.

What monitor will you have then? If you want an nVidia card i'd go for the 8800GTS
Quote from Jakg :What monitor will you have then? If you want an nVidia card i'd go for the 8800GTS

I am thinking of getting a monitor to support HD as the 8800 supports HD but one thing is that I don't know what case to get as I want a decent case what will fit all the components in like the P5K mobo and the 8800 and got enough room to tidy the wires up and good air circulation to keep everything cool.

Hd doesn't help.

If your going over 20" you'll want to get the 8800GTS640 rather than the 8800GTS320.

I know it doesn't but it is good for watching movies and videos off the net in HD i might not get a HD Monitor I am thinking about it though.

So could anyone tell me a good case to use?

Edit: I will proberly be getting the 640mb 8800gts anyway.
I think you're getting a bit specialized for a LFS forum. For finding good cases for cooling and also going into more detail about components you'd get much better and a much wider range of advice from forums that deal with that kind of stuff.

Good place to start, just read a few threads.

Been on the forum a few times, I will be buying all my parts from overclockers apart from the mobo(Standard P5K) what overclockers do not stock.

Edit: Bit of a change will proberly be getting a ATI Sapphire 2900 Pro 1gb card now instead of the 8800
Quote from sam93 :Hi there,

I am thinking of building my own pc with these components.
G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-6400C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit
Pioneer DVR-112DBK 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter - (Black) OEM
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music 7.1 Soundcard - OEM
BFG 800W UK/PFC Approved PSU
Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 320GB ATA-133 8MB Cache - OEM
Asus P5K WS Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

And i was just wondering is it all compatible?

Sam.

I defently can hear a jakg post coming

you should get X64 bit OS for 4gb ram...dont know about the "energy efficient" quad though seems a bit....interesting

get a different PSU

go for either one of these

Corsair 620W
Corsair 520W
Corsair 450W at the very least
