8600GTS - What framerates do you get?
Any LFS users with an 8600GTS out there?
Sadly, I can't run at that resolution. My monitor only supports up to 1280x1024. I am running everything maxed out, updated tire and track textures, and 4xAA 16xAF. LFS is mostly dependant on your processor (I have an AMD x2 4600+ at 2.4Ghz and 1GB RAM). With these settings offline I get between 110-140 fps but I usually cap it at 60 so I don't push the card too much offline or online and I usually have the LCD at a refresh rate of 60hz anyway.

It's a great card and I think it will match your rig perfectly. Is your proccessor overclocked?

I have an AMD X2 3600. Fast enough or a bottleneck?

This CPU is slight bottleneck for this card but really online a slight.
X2 3600 is mostly bottleneck for LFS itselfs as its heavy CPU intensive game. One of the most on the market.

Your CPU will be in LFS fast as my A64 3500+ which is single core running at 2.0Ghz.LFS cant utilize multicore CPUs.

What framerates do do you get with AA/AF turned off at 1680x1050?

Please note CPU type & clock frequency as well.

Thanks!!!

Why on earth would you run with no AA?!

You'll get 4xAA and 100 fps with a few cars in view and about 40 fps in a full grid if your CPU copes.
I have a Asus 8800GTS 640 (@600/1000) and a e6600 (@3.6).
Screen resolution is 1680x1050 with 16xAF and 8xAA.
Alone on the track a have +/- 200 FPS and with full grid never under 100 FPS.

8800GTS, not 8600GTS :P

I've got a 7950GT which is a little faster than the 8600GTS and it does 4xAA, 16xAF and gives me 120 FPS with a few cars in sight and 40 FPS in a full grid - it will take 8xAA, but my CPU won't in a full grid
Thanks for all the replies.

By 20" i take it that it's a widescreen.

Not sure what you mean about "AA Making thing blurry" but it's your choice, the area where the 128-bit bus holds the 8600GTS back is high resolutions (like 1900*1200) and AA, which you don't have. It's a good graphics card, and it's DX10 comatible which could be handy in the future
I would consider an 8600GTS overkill for LFS, but I assume you play other games aswell. If you want me to test anything else I would be glad to.

Are you running any AA?

I wish i could run AA ... Stupid XFX 6200

Core2Duo 6600
2Gb DDR2 800MHz RAM
8600GTS nVidia
24" widescreen, running at 1920x1200
AA & AF set to max

I normally get around 60 FPS on the grid and it fluctuates between 90-200 during a race if I don't limited it.
