That Di Resta guy was impressive. 3rd position with a 2-year old car.

And Im happy to see 3 of the supposed top Mercedes drivers not making it to the last part of quali.
yeah thats true. mercedes didn't improve at all over the years
Good to see Mika Häkkinen racing.
First win since 5 years for Audi on Hockenheim
But man is he slow, just on position 11.
Havy crash at the start but Tom Kristensen seems to be OK

Otherwise a great day for Audi. They didn't win since 2002 at Hockenheim and today they finished on 1st and 2nd.
I missed a bit the close fights like last season, is getting like F1.

1. Mattias Ekström

2. Martin Tomczyk

Next race will be Oschersleben (06.05.2007)

Yes, great result and a very good tactical choice of Ekström to pit early.

Too bad that Spengler drove Scheider off the track, it would have been an Audi-exclusive podium.

Mercedes-Benz turned out to be the benchmark in qualifying for the third DTM round of the season at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz. Among the first ten cars, there are seven cars with the three-pointed star on the bonnet. After three heats in the shoot-out qualifying, Canadian Bruno Spengler secured himself his second pole position of the season with the AMG Mercedes C-Class. The 23-year old completed the 3.478 kilometres long track in 1:18.408 minutes. “On the track, it is quite narrow here. Therefore, being out in front at the start is all the more important”, Spengler said. Crowd favourite Mika Häkkinen (Mercedes-Benz) from Finnland was second, 0.113 seconds down. Third place was occupied by Scottish newcomer Paul di Resta (Mercedes-Benz), who again surprised the opposition with a two-year old car. www.DTM.com

1. Mika Häkkinen
2. Paul di Resta

Wow, what a messy race
I think Mathias Lauda should have get a penalty for that stupid move
That race was a farce, there are no other words for it.

I wonder what the race direction was thinking. illepall

you're right... the race direction have to notice it when the leading cars are not behind the safety car... the teams have to be informed and the drivers had to be told to wait untill the safety car overtook them... but i cannot understand why the safety car left the box that late! normally they are waiting on a straight till the cars arrive...

something which interrest me is: did the drivers made a pitstop when pits were closed get a penalty? they left the box by redlight
I wish I could get DTM over here. We didn't pay for Sports channels so we don't have Motors TV
I'd really fancy watching the DTM. Always been a race series that's looked interesting.
I think Ekström got a penalty for that. The others did it several laps later so that it probably was too late to issue a penalty in the race. I guess, they will get time added to their finish time or get disqualified altogether.

Lets hope they do a better job at Brands Hatch.

I wonder what the race direction was drinking
I can't remember that I ever saw such a chaos race.
The marshals who tried to rescue the (winkelhock) car under yellow and without the safty car outside was also one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
All in all evidence of incapacity
