Anaglyph/Stereo3D Mode
How about an anaglyph (red/cyan) mode for those of us that have ATI cards or can't display in stereoscopic for other reasons? It seems like such and easy add-on to implement.

I've seen this game in stereo 3D and it looks awesome!!!

Er... Can you do that with one monitor and a pair of nerd specs then, if you have an ATI card? Oooo!

well, it turns out that our brain can naturally use 2 sets of cues to estimate distance to objects:
- size of objects (currently available in the game in 2D) and
- stereoscopic depth (available only when the eyes receive 2 different images).

The second set of cues are particularly important for ppl using LFS as a cheap way to train for real car races.

besides, I heard neardy is making a comeback (or maybe that's just my gf trying to make me feel good :razz
This really needs to be done by ATI, not by the LFS devs. If you have an nVidia card you can play almost any game in 3D stereo. This is not something Scawen should be spending his time on. It's something that ATI needs to address.

I have an nVidia card... how do i do that?

EDIT: Googled, I need extra hardware... forget it...

The only extra hardware you NEED is some red/blue glasses. If you get the hardware shutter glasses, it's even better because the colors don't lose their saturation like they do with red/blue glasses. If you have an nVidia card and are at all interested, you owe it to yourself to pick up some red/blue glasses for $5 and check it out.

Well, i have like a dozen of those... Could you help me out please
It's pretty simple. You just have to install the regular nVidia driver, then install the additional 3D nVidia driver. You'll see the options in the Display control panel applet. The regular and 3D driver usually need to be matched, so make sure you install the matching versions.

This link should help if you get stuck, but it's fairly straight forward.

If you want a realistic 3d experiance check these out:

https://edimensional.com/index ... a0fa7766b6a4afcdc27e97d52

They work with any graphics card and any monitor provided it goes above to or above 70hz refresh rates.

It does look odd in FPS games because the heads up display is still 2d and seems to float infront of you, but it doesn't cause that much of a problem.

I know I want a pair of them!

Don't say this until you've actually tried it. I have a pair and have spoken to a lot of others who do too. Using them with anything other than a CRT and nVidia card is asking for disappointment.

Has anyone tried the eDimensional glasses with an ATI card? Their website claims that it works with ATI as well.

I've installed the driver (EDController 4.0 not for NVidia) without the glasses and indeed it shows interlaced stereo3D feed, but I don't know if it actually synchronizes properly with the glasses.
The older version of the glasses won't work even with the new drivers. If they don't work then you need the newer set.

People I'v talked to that have the newer ones say they work well, but even the newer ones give you a funny feeling when you have a HUD on your screen, it seems to just pop out at you.

The only screens the newer ones don't work on are laptop screens, but thats because you can't attatch the control box to them.

Anyone know where these glasses can be bought? I asked at a couple of computer/games store in town, but no success. All I got was blank stares, or responses like "yeah, they were popular a few years ago but they weren't much good and they don't work anymore with modern games".

Google is your friend. There are a ton of places online that sell these glasses.
I had some glasses for an GF3 Asus card couple of years ago. Like these:

But it was rather dissapointing. They were really hellish uncomfortable, and sliding down my nose all time.
Also it needed a lot of consentration the get a more or less clear picture. And if you managed to get a clear picture it was rewarded by headache afterwards.
As far as I can remember, I never played longer with the glasses than 15min.

Decent 3D is a bit like jetpacks, isn't it? It should be here by now...
Here in Germany you can get them at the opticians...

Ah, but they do have jetpacks now, I saw one one TV the other day.
It has wings that flip out and everything. <==This isn't sarcasm, I'm serious
