Setup creation process help
Hi, I'm fairly new to LFS S2, but I'm already running quite well in my local league races. Now I'm doing research about setting the cars. I've downloaded basic and advanced setup guides, setup analysing applications and such, but I have a basic question.

I understand how most of the things works, but I would like some help and tips about the procees I should follow. I mean, there must be some basic things that you should adjust in first place. After that you work on secondary settings. Then you just start fine tuning everything until you are satisfied.

There are lots of things that can be changed, so I think there must be some kind of "basic" settings, while the other should be changed after the main ones are OK.

Any help?

Well the key is to know the car and track inside out first. Then it depends on the kind of set you're after. Hotlapping, short race, long race etc.

You can either start with the WR set off setupfield or with the RACE_S setup. Drive it until you know exactly what you want changed to make it feel better for you.

Basic things to change are tyres, camber and pressure, ARBs, brakes and gear ratios. If you know what you're doing you can fiddle with the shocks, ride height and springs.

Every change you make reflects into other parts of the setup so you can;'t just set something and elave it, you'll most likely have to tweak it again after.
It's a continous circle of improvement really, you never reach a point where you couldn't go back and change anything. The only obvious thing is the damping settings depend on the spring settings, so changing the springs means changing the damping, but not the other way round.
Quote from Bob Smith :It's a continous circle of improvement really, you never reach a point where you couldn't go back and change anything.

Sounds rather like a dog chasing its tail then
Also why it is often seen as a black art too I guess
