When people talk about steering wheel/pedal sets they often mention pots. What are these? My throttle pedal no longer responds and i see people mention pots but i dont know what they are.

Ok i have an old Logitech Wingman Formula (looks like http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00001W021.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg except its all black) and the throttle no longer responds. The only thing i can think of is the pot has failed so is it easily replaceable? Im guessing i can just pick one of these up from an electronic store?

Remove the pot from the pedals and test its resistance with an multimeter while turning it around, if it's not working take it with you in to a hardware store and ask them to give you an pot exactly like it.

ive made up a steering wheel and have used a 100k pot.

what effect would i have by using a different "size" pot........?
