VERL 2022 - Round 5
V8 Racing League 2022
Round 5

Monday,14th November
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

V8 Racing League of this year has reached it's final section - the season finale is only round that's left. Unfortunatelly the whole intrigue for drivers championship is gone as it is very unlikelly for standings leader to lose the lead and give up the title, but theoretical chance is still there,so there is not much room for error. Rookie of the year battle however is still undecided - 2 teammates will have to settle between themselves who will earn the honor as there are just 2 points between them. The biggest excitement is teams championship - the race in South City will see 4 teams racing for the title as just 5 points seperate them.

This is already the 2nd temporary circuit in series calender, but the first one set in urban environment - South City itself is well known for LFS racers and also the longest configuration should be well pressed in their memory. So the only variable that changes is the car - the new VERL car does not have as much downforce as old one,so drivers have to learn in handling in faster turns and be ready for rear wheels of the car trying to overtake front ones if not careful with throttle.

Season finale was held in our beloved fictional London borough - South City, where the twisty 4 kilometers long configuration City Long was run in reversed direction, making the opening curve quite scary when running flat out with the loose car at over 270 kilometers per hour. Best two drivers from qualifying kept their positions, allthough only one of them was unchallenged - again there was not much position shuffling between start and race, still most drivers had some fast paced meetings with others.

This was the 4th round of 5 where there was a dominating driver scoring all 22 points from the round, but for some change it was not the standings leader as he wasn't even attending, leaving fate of the championship under small question mark. The one who took over lead is an VERL rookie, but deffinitelly no rookie in LFS racing - Terga set a new lap record in qualifying, beating the 1:23 mark, run away from competition leading all 50 laps of the race. Terga finished the race with almost 50 seconds advantage over Thehemuli, who was running 2nd for majority of the race. The finn scored his 3rd podium finish of the season and 5th top5 finish overall. Podium was completed by series host Rony, passing his teammate on the way to it - increasing his league top5 count to 17.

Full season recap and official final standings will be posted within next week!
