Did anyone watch The Brit Awards Ceremony last night?

If so, what did you think to the live acts and the awards?

Was it fair for Take That to not mention Robbie once during the entire evening and was it fair for Lily Allen to walk away empty handed after four nominations?

Did Russell Brand's risque humour set the mood for the night or did he take it a little too far?

The Winners:

British Male Solo Artist: James Morrison
British Female Solo Artist: Amy Winehouse
British Group: Arctic Monkeys
MasterCard British Album: Arctic Monkeys - "Whatever people say I am, that’s what I’m not"
British Single: Take That - "Patience"
British Breakthrough Act: The Fratellis
British Live Act: Muse
International Male Solo Artist: Justin Timberlake
International Female Solo Artist: Nelly Furtado
International Group: The Killers
International Album: The Killers - "Sam’s Town"
International Breakthrough Act: Orson
Outstanding Contribution to Music: Oasis

Have your say!

Quote from shaun463 :It works for me try renaming rFactor.exe to rFactor.ex

How on Earth is that supposed to help (lol)? On the other forums they say that an NVIDIA GeForce MX440 (64 MB Video RAM) isn't good enough to play rFactor. Is that true? I've definately got DXT Texture Compression enabled in the control panel.
rFactor Error

Whenever I try to start rFactor I get this error message:

No support for texture compression found. DXT texture compression required. Visit the links below for technical support and downloads.

I tried the links there but they were useless. I have an NVIDIA GeForce MX440 graphics card with 64MB of video RAM. Could anyone help please?

Quote from duke_toaster :*punches shaun for crap song*

Rule 1 : If when making an LFS movie, use Motley Crue, Rammstein, Iron Maiden or something by someone remotely similar (come to mention it, any Evanescence song works) - the Kaiser f*cking Chiefs give most LFSers the urge to punch them.
Rule 2 : When using fraps, don't have LFS's soundtrack running - if you do, mute the LFS sound when making the video.
Rule 3 : Use bobyte aviscreen or a registered version of fraps. Or video out or something.
Rule 4 : Shoot movies from the MPR or SPR
Rule 5 : Don't go over 80kph in the pit lane.

What about Muse? I think I Predict a Riot would work if the race was set on a city track at night.

Quote from richy :ive got the same thing, ive defragged and installed new drivers installed new LFS folder and still get 4 fps when there is cars on the track. my windows is up to date and i have only 50% full hdd. when i updated my gfx drivers i got a good performance increase and smoother play but still major reductions in frame rate when cars are in view. like 90 fps when im alone then if i see 1 or 2 cars i get 5-10 fps major difference.

ive a p4 3.4 and a geforce 6800 graphics 2 gig of ddr memory @ 333mhz (it says in the bios a 500 mhz option but i havent tried that?)

not got any anti aliasing on and all is set to performance mode.

recently installed programs:

a bunch of annoying hp software for a new usb 2 printer that i got
itunes cos of ipod xmas pressie

ive run adaware and cleaned out the files and ive got norton anti virus running, ive tried LFS with av on and off both same results.

ive tried tinkering with some graphics like LOD and shadows but still not luck. ive got it running in 1280x1024 pixels.

That sounds like it could perhaps be something to do with the connection; perhaps it is dropping packets. Is your CPU usage at 99% or 100% while you are playing? I assume that when you reduce the resolution it doesn't make much difference.

OK, ignore my last post. From the looks of things, it's most likely an incompatibility of some sort, because the specs of your card sound more than good enough for running Live For Speed at a much higher frame rate. Have you tried "tweaking" with the settings of your video card? You could try turning certain things on or off such as anti-aliasing, VSync etc, but make sure you know what each setting actually means (sorry to be patronising).

This might sound a bit trivial, but a HDD defrag might help a little. Could you post your specs please? (CPU speed, RAM and graphics card memory would be the most helpful). I suspect that version V is a little more heavy on resources than U.

Quote from Davo :I forgot the demo version only uses Nickname, so just use nickname instead of username.

OK, I'll change it back then. I've just realised I forgot to put "|" at the end of it all. Should this make a difference?

P.S. will it pick up where "****" is part of message (e.g. "**** you Bob") or only if "****" is on its own?

Quote from Davo :What you have is pretty much right, try changing the {Nickname} to {Username}

f**k:s**t|/kick {Username}:/rcm {Nickname} was kicked for profanity!:/rcm_all|

should also work.

Cheers, would you still use 'Username' on a Demo server, since users on Demo servers are banned by IP address rather than 'Username'? I'll try it and see what happens.

To protect yourself from phishing, it is often suggested to use Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox, as both have built-in anti-phishing protection mechanisms. They won't make you 100% safe of course, but they should reduce your risk of falling victim to fraud. Too keep your computer free of spyware I would recommend Spybot - Search And Destroy as it's freeware and doesn't seem to use many resources. As for a free antivirus, I would recommend AVG Antivirus Free Edition.

I (attempt to) use LFSLapper to autokick people for swearing, and set a welcome message warning people that swearing is not allowed and results in an auto-kick. The welcome message works, but my auto-kick doesn't. Is this the correct way to script the auto-kick function?:

AutoAction =
swearword1:swearword2:swearwordetc | /kick {Nickname}:/rcm {Nickname} was kicked for profanity!:/rcm_all

Also, will this pick up any message which has the words in, or only when the words are sent on their own?

I think you could get it to work on slower computers if you turned off some of the useless services and graphic effects. We managed to get Windows XP to run quite nicely on an 11 year old computer with a 200 Mhz processor, 80 MB of RAM and a 2 MB graphics card after turning off some unnecessary services and all the fancy effects.

Quote from TiJay :Because the speed that is right for the road isn't always the speed that the limit is at. A lot of the time, the limit is lower than the safe speed and cameras are often placed just after limit signs.

The idea is to catch people out so they can make even more money.

Quote from Linsen :I was once banned from a server because an AI accused me of wrecking and instantly a bunch of AIs - must have been five or six of them - pressed 1 and gone was I ... I think they also called me n00b and all kinds of names which are too dirty to repeat in a public forum.

I didn't know AIs could vote to ban people. It doesn't make sense if they can't vote to restart.

LFSLapper isn't that complicated once you get the gist of it. You just need to fiddle around with the password and perhaps the welcome message etc. if you want, and the script which records Personal Bests is there by default.

If you host a game on your own computer and are behind a router, you will not be able to see your computer in the list because routers always seem to stop you connecting in a loop. The same applies if you try to connect with any other computer behind the same router.
