New project update! The changes were:

- Flywheel simulation of the heaviest engine (AI drivers let the car turn off at the start due to the light flywheel);

- New textures on the front and rear lights. Now the upper front lighting also lights up.

- It is now possible to put Slick tires, to do Trackday;

- New 2 Skins: Test Drive and LFS Skin.

The idea is to be different. It was a design made entirely from scratch, without precise inspiration. The world is full of similar cars Smile

Hello friends!

I bring some information about the project and some pictures of how it is so far Smile

The lighting is almost ready, I'm doing some tests and adjustments. Some details are missing from the bodywork (like logos and names, possibly in 3d). The interior we are still putting together, testing combinations to see what looks best.

More updates soon Big grin

Project updates:

Modeling is progressing, and this is what he looks like so far (see GIF). Its size was a little larger than expected, close to the dimensions of a BMW X4.
We are finishing the outside and already designing the inside. There will be many command screens, such as a large multimedia, individual digital controls for air conditioning, digital control for heating and cooling of seats, digital instrument panel, in addition to a digital control on the roof, for opening the sunroof. Let's try to put as many textures as the pixel limit allows Big grin

In physics I had already started work long before the car modelling, with a "prototype" of the RB4 higher off the ground and larger. The suspension is robust while the SUV was pleasant to drive in curves, with enough firmness and stability to balance almost 2 tons of weight.

More details coming soon!

Quote from lfsrm :Interesting, I m curious how are you going to integrate the hybrid powertrain since LFS doesn't support yet such engine configuration

The "Hybrid System" I mean if the car were real, it would certainly adopt this type of powertrain, in the world we live in today.

But I created a curve with a lot of torque at low rpm (you don't need to raise the revs to more than 1,400 rpm to ride civilly) and applied it to a "prototype" in the LFS. It is a way of simulating an "electric motor" that would operate at low speed.

In this simulation I got 18.6 km/l of fuel consumption (based on the kilometers I traveled and the amount spent, which the LFS informs) at Whesthill, not exceeding 80 km/h, and respecting the stops.

As for the design, we are advancing in the modeling, the idea is that it will be something different, an SUV coupe with its own identity (and of course, my fictional brand), with lots of luxury items.

The good thing is that we are learning more and more about modeling. Soon pictures of what it looks like so far.

This time we decided to create an Coupe SUV with a sporty proposal, the same size as the Porsche Macan for example, with a focus on dynamics.

Despite being something fictitious, the project would be a modern car, to be launched these days, so it would be a Hybrid, with a 2.5 V6 Turbo engine from the newly available XRT2, combined with an electric one, generating about 400 bhp.

We want to create another version, probably with a 2.0 4-cylinder also hybrid, and a Cross version. The project is being called Nortz RBF9 (RB as it is a four-wheel drive project like the old RB4, and will have references in the design to remember it, but we are not creating it to be its replacement, just "honor it with some references).

The drawing below is one of the first initial sketches. Of course, a lot can and should change.

We intend this to be our most elaborate mod, we are learning every day, but that's our intention. Smile

Sensational! Glad we're going to have a real car that competes with my fictional Nortz XRT2 Turbo on LFS Big grin

Jokes aside, congratulations on the quality of the mod, perfect!

Quote from Octosquad :This car is very phenomenal. Well designed and excellent on the interior. I do have a request, could u make a trackday setup and add only R3's and R4's? I would appreciate it Smile

Thank you friend! We are creating a semi-track version based on the XRT2 variant (2.5 V6 Turbo) at the level of Porsche Cayman GT4 for example. But a variant for Trackday based on the entry version would be really interesting! :-)

Quote from Biadonsky :Just tested, making a comparision race of 2 laps against the XRT driven by AI (difficult MAX). Using the keybord for me is hard to take the corners in the cleanest way, but I lost only for 0:00.58 and did the best lap. On straight the XRT is faster, on the corners the XR2 feels better.

Really good job!

In my opinion you should improve interiors and sound. Also the dashboard (speed) was blinking, but I'm playing on very low graphics.

Thank you friend!

Physics was where we strived to make the car fun!

As for the details, we are improving little by little. The car was much more complete, with more textures and interior details (like fire extinguishers, cup holders, seat belts, frame on the radio), but unfortunately I had to take everything out as LFS has a pixel limit for png images. I had even created engines, radiator, battery and transmission in 3d, but I had to remove it.

Let's get better Smile

Quote from Scawen :It's all about the area of the textures.

For example a 1024x1024 texture is 1 megapixel. A 512x512 texture is only 0.25 megapixels.

You need to look at the png textures in your model, see which ones are large and think of a way to get the effect by using smaller textures.

Sometimes you can do a lot with repeating textures, so for example on those seats you should use a very tiny texture, on a small mapping, so the texture repeats.

Maybe you are using large textures that would look fine if reduced in size. Basically there is no need in a game quality mesh, to use more than 5 megapixels. These limits allow mods to download quickly and make it practical to be online with a lot of different cars.

Thank you so much Scawen!

It worked out! I reduced most textures from 1024x1024 to 512x512 and it worked! I had to remove some details from my project such as 3d engine, transmission, extinguisher and other irrelevant details, but the important thing is that everything worked out! Smile
Error: Total PNG area limit of 5 megapixels exceed by 4.8 megapixels!

Hello friends!

Today I was going to upload a new mod that I'm doing, however, when generating the compressed file, an error appeared: Error: "Total PNG area limit of 5 megapixels exceeds by 11.2 megapixels"

I eliminated several details that would be just visuals from my mod, and still persisted: "Total PNG area limit of 5 megapixels exceeds by 8.3 megapixels"

I decided to eliminate for testing the seats, the gear shift lever and the steering wheel and the error persisted!

Now I deleted some textures, and the error now says: "Total PNG area limit of 5 megapixels exceeds by 4.8 megapixels"

I don't know what else to do, can anyone help me? I am very grateful in advance!

Hello friends!

I bring updates about the project!

Over the last few days, we've smoothed the mesh and windows, redesigned the rear bumper, created the skins, created the outside mirrors, added logos and branding, removed the hood vents, and tweaked the mechanics and physics.

Now we're working on the inside, recreating a sketch we made by hand in 3d.

The result you can see in the photos Smile

Quote from Eclipsed :I admire your creativity to make something like this, but please don't call it the new XR - I would leave the rights of this letter combination to LFS devs. People who create cars by themselves (and not just copy/paste some downloaded models into LFS Editor) should "found" a fantasy car company and release their creations under their own name.

Maybe use the name XR2 or another name, and the logo of my fictitious brand, Nortz (The same as the Nortz Expert mod, MotoGP). Big grin

Hello friends!

I've been working on the dashboard, steering wheel and multimedia screen, now we're drawing sketches of what the car's interior will look like. Logically we want to keep the 3 dials in the middle of the panel, like the original XR.

Motorization we thought and tested several possibilities, and what pleased us most was a 1.6 Turbo engine with 200hp. I believe it would fit in very well with the project if it were a real car, in times of strict emission standards, in addition to being an entry-level sports car. For the XRT version, we thought of something stronger, we still thought of a 6 cylinder (we will test), focusing on the segment above, and visual changes such as bigger and wider wheels, bigger spoiler, changes in the bumpers, among others. But first we need to finish this XRG. Smile

More updates coming soon!

Hello friends!

After a lot of work, we arrived at this result that you can check out in the photos, what we think is the new XRG! We put it next to the old XRT for comparison.

We resized the car to be similar in size to the Toyota GT86, a car that could compete with it in real life. We've increased the cabin area and hood area to encompass a front engine. In addition, we redesigned the entire back.

There are still many, many details missing, such as the internal area of the headlights, textures and creating the entire interior of the car.

The engine is still in doubt, but we think of a 1.8 Turbo engine with power close to 200hp, and a six-speed manual gearbox.

More updates soon Smile

Quote from sinbad :I like this idea but don't lose sight of what XRG actually is. It's a cheap coupé. Your design is interesting but the proportions feel more MR than FR so try not to lose the XR DNA.
This is all open to interpretation, though, Good luck!

Thank you!

The idea is to keep the concept of entry-level sports coupe, such as the Supra A90, Nissan Z and Audi TT. The XR (more specifically the XRT) was based on the old Mitsubishi Starion, which was replaced by the 3000GT/GTO. If this car had a replacement these days, it would definitely be in this segment. Our prototype still preserves the 2+2 interior, and will have rear-wheel drive and longitudinally mounted engine. We can increase the frontal region due to the V6 engine, or even leave the XRG with a smaller engine displacement, focused on the market that the Toyota GR86 occupies.

More details coming soon!

Hello friends! Thank you all!

I'm sending pictures of the progress so far. A lot of details are missing besides smoothing the 3d mesh, creating the interior and all the textures, but we can already see how the project is doing.

We created engines in 3d, and we thought of the XRG with a 2.0 Turbo and manual transmission, and the XRT with a 3.0 V6 turbo and automatic transmission (we will use the paddle shift transmission). We also thought of creating a version called Drift Pack, with the V6 Turbo engine combined with the manual transmission.

After the project is complete, we can create the XR-R, racing version.

More details in the coming days! Smile
