Quote from CSF :You have not even bothered joining for your own session, which further shows you should never have bothered joining.

Yeah well, TBH i don´t have time to race on saturday. I was curious about the GT0 class. Since there was still some room on the server, I wanted to take our spotter slot & watch the GT0 quali silently, with some onboard views. As i said, i´m not yet used to the procedure 100%

shame on me, will do better. sorry again

from MOE twitter: "Seems like there will be several procedural penalties this round for incorrect numberplates and joining in the incorrect session."

Quoting MoE Rules:

"Only drivers of the appropriate class should be on the server during each class’s qualification session. "

shouldn´t it say "are allowed to" instead of "should"? imo "should" is a bit too flexible to give a penalty for early joining. i know my name was wrong, but this one little word is why i dared to join in the first place

edit: sorry for the trouble. we´re not trying to cause any. just not used to the rules yet. working on it right now!

i´m sorry, i was just using this thread to test the subscription- and email notification function. made me feel like i had to say something about everything

If you investigate every time out, you´d need a lot of time after some races. It might then be an idea to wait for an actual protest by a team who feels cheated.

Nice to read that, sounds all fair. Seems like you´re giving it all the right thoughts. I already hope i can be in your next race again, and i´m sure my teammates will like that too.

Quote from Metalass :Yet another Endurance Race where the voting was not disabled on the server :P

YES, just a detail, but worth mentioning. i quote lfs\docs\commands.txt:

"/vote X :no / yes (allow guest voting)"

admins will still see kick & ban buttons, if i remember correctly. and they don´t start votes, instead they kick instantly. but it is VERY good for guests not to have those buttons any more. so they can´t accidently click on them in the take-over process. no need for votes in such an event any way, am i right?

Having said that, i still want to thank everyone who was involved in this, no matter if you made this possible or if you "just" drove. I enjoyed every second once again. I´m just loving these events!

Oh, and my opinion on disconnect-penalties:

- first of all, I wouldn´t change rules half way or even after the race. if you think this penalty is too harsh, don´t give it in the next race. but this time, everyone knew what to expect. It was in the rules.

- second, the penalty came up for a reason. think of a team who´s got a damaged engine or a car on the roof. they might want to shift-p or shift-s to get a new car, even at the expense of a penalty lap. now if there was an alternative way of leaving the track without a penalty, they would use that alternative. the alternative would simply be: unplug the network cable on your machine. time-out. quickly plug it back in and rejoin.

so if you don´t want people to do that, you´d have to lift the 1 lap penalty for shift-p as well. and i don´t think you want to do that ...

edit: of course noone can force team alternate to take the price. if they want to give it to the second place, what a nice gesture

i do, i do. as i said, i expected a little error there in the rules.pdf - i was just trying to think globally. like, those who just quickly google for current CET would get the time wrong.

thanks for clearing this up anyway

quoting rules:

i guess there´s also a "S" missing in "CET", right? i don´t wanna miss the quali

I´d just like to say thank you to all drivers and admins who are in this event. it´s been great driving so far from what i could see.
if i had to pick anyone to complain about, it would be Razvan Radu, hitting me straight on, about one hour after the start, me being in lap 22. of course i didn´t save the replay but i heared he´s known to drive a bit rought, so it probably won´t change until the actual 24hours race

GTRs, please keep in mind that those FZ50´s are like driving on ice compaired to yours, so we really cannot do much else then this "outside - inside - outside" thing in turns. it´s also scary when you´re right up our asses, comming up to braking zones. you might not need your brakes at all, where we actually do, so please try not to hit us

again thanks to all! this would be impossible without admins, and no fun at all without other cars. So i hope you enjoy this today like i did, and i´m looking forward to see you all again in a week

Funny when i read about ppl who don't wanna wear glasses cause they hate carrying that litte box around all the time. was quite the opposite to me. about 10 years ago, partying every friday/saturday and not knowing whether you make it back home or fall asleep at a friends house, i used contacts and didn't feel well leaving them in my eyes over the night. so i either carry around the little box for the contacts and the bottle of this liquid you need for them, or you wear glasses and just take them off right before you fall asleep.

now i'm not partying that much anymore in public - wondering how it were different if i got used to wearing contacts over night sure i got used to the glasses. but sometimes i wish i didn't need them. what bothers most is that i can't recognise faces in the distance without them. -1,5 right, -1,75 left. just enough to wear them all day long.

this one time, lying on a weird racing-skateboard-something, rolling downhill, i swear i was doing more then 30KPH! the damn thing started shaking left-right very fast and almost threw me off before i could stop. and the fingers almost scratched on the tarmac. very scary!

on a public road that was. yesyes!

Quote from L@gger :I want to make it with limit but limit must be really more. it will be limited just because we dont want to race more than half day...

ok, 2 hours is just about all i want to spend on this thing. you go ahead, have that not-more-then-half-day event - 12 hours? 6 maybe? however you define it, good luck!

Quote from JohnnyFX :Just wanted to point out that a time limit won't work... whoever drives the fastest will have the most laps, regardless of fuel consumption. That's assuming the time limit is less then the time it takes to use all your fuel, and if not, then the time limit would be pointless.

Well, of course the time limit would have to be more then it takes to use all your fuel if you were driving at high speed, and it´s not pointless. if you have no time limit, people could just park next to the track, spy on each other, see who´s tactic brings a car to most laps and then try and get just a little bit further (and the event would take half a day). if you go as fast as possible in the bf1, you might run out of fuel after maybe 45 minutes or so, and people with a more economic driving style will pass you eventually. if you try to save fuel, you could still be running after i don´t know ... 3 hours? so if you make the race 2 hours, everyone has to find a balance between saving fuel and driving fast to get the most laps done. and of course everyone would start with 100% fuel, and pit stops are just not allowed (or i think you can check whether someone was refuelling during a pit stop, using the replay, so you could stop for repairs only). this way, we could start this thing right now, wouldn´t even need a tracker. MRT @ aston cadet still being my first suggestion for this.

edit: ideal would be if you burned exactly 100% in those 2 hours, right? so it comes down to think not about fuel usage per lap but per minute .... something like that

Quote from L@gger :This type of race must have more than 30 laps ...

sure, a timed race (x hours) has no lap limit. you could to 36000 laps in an hour if your car does 10 laps per second.

yeah, but 3 hours of nonstop most-economic cruising might become quite boring so 2 hours sound ideal to me. don´t know any car in lfs that can go race-pace for 2 hours with 100% fuel.

and btw the bf1 doesnt have a starter motor. so i´m gonna propose MRT instead. so i can park next to the track (not in the pits of course) if i need to go to the bathroom.

see, this is where we can start placing bets on who is gonna win

to put a time limit on the event, you could make it a 2 hours race maybe. and juts say that the winner doesnt need to cross the finish line after those 2 hours, we will just check who got most laps.

BF1 with 100% on aston cadet - i´m in. just name a date

gonna go probably about 40kph average speed. in 7th gear. maximum pressure and camber on the tires. something like that. i´m guessing that doing such a race in the bf1 might be over sooner than in any other car... maybe MRT would be a good idea too, small enough so we could shake hands when passing each other. it´s more like a test then a race anyway, still fun

Weird :\

that´s exactly how i found out as well. and yes, it´s doing the same to the brakes. not a feature though apparently

they apparently tell you whether the person is currently on- or offline in lfs. that´s what it says when you place your cursor on them. nothing really relevant though.
