Quote from tristancliffe :No, because he didn't set out to score points. He was merely controlling a slide using opposite lock. His aim was to lose as little time as possible, and not to get as big an angle; thus it is NOT drifting.

Point taken.

Would my Piquet video qualify as drifting?

It was a powerslide, but on a really really hard angle! I just don't know.

*waits till somebody puts a video of Gilles Villeneuve slamming his Ferrari sideways into corners*

Hell, I'll do it myself. Only it's gonna be Nelson Piquet, not Gilles. Enjoy!

Quote from Mr.Ferret :Yeah you probaly have a point there. Ive seen Alonso all he does is drive it like i do the BF1 throws it at a corner and says "Save me Traction Control!" So unless the new Merc is up to that...

I recall reading somewhere that McLaren already designed a new front wing, an exact copy of the Renault R26's wing.

What Alonso asks, they'll do.

Quote from tristancliffe :Trust me, your English is butchered. You won't realise it, because you don't know any different, but it's as different to English as American is.

You still never thought of a smoother driver. And I've seen onboard V8 footage, and they don't look particularly smooth to me. Sure, they are race car drivers and have a certain amount of smoothness, but there's smooth and then there is SMOOTH. Watch Button. Sometimes he'll take a month to get from one steering lock to the other, yet still be faster than his teammate.

Well, there's also the fact that those V8 cars are much heavier than an F1 car, and have much less grip. They need to be lugged around a bit, so a super smooth style just wouldn't work.

But you're right. I remember Button's onboard from the 2005 Turkish GP and it was strange. Everything looked so smooth it felt like the car was driving itself!

Quote from Bee :Whilst Red Bull do have a great team behind the pit wall, it's the drivers for me who will let them down, Webber I do rate well, when he has a good spell, it's a damn good spell but he is as inconsistant as British weather. DC has had his day I'm afraid, Monaco was a great achievement but Klien had him on the day in the same car.

Right now for my vote as to who will take it, I'm gunning for Alonso. It's about time McLaren churned out a car like the one from '98, Alonso never gives up, as apparent in Monza quali and with Hamilton on board, he will finally have the fast back up team mate he never had at Renault.

To be fair with Mark, he's always been driving... incomplete cars in incomplete teams, to put it somehow. The Minardi was obviously hopeless. The Jaguar always lacked grunt, was very unreliable, and the team was an absolute mess. The BMW Williams lacked development, and the Cossie Williams lacked grunt, development, aero efficiency, was incredibly unreliable... a true backmarker's car. Yet he almost put it in P2 at Monaco! And yes, the team was upside down with financial issues too.

Red Bull is probably the first truly competitive drive he'll land. Just like Massa went from Crash Bandicoot to a much stable racing driver, I think we might see the same with Mark Webber at RBR / Renault. Hopefully!

BTW, my tip goes to Kimi. And I don't even like Ferrari in the first place.

But hey, Alonso's gonna struggle with McLaren's issues (who have the unreliable (2005) and/or slow (2006) Mercs, and lost a few important people in the aero department, not to mention Adrian Newey!), Fisichella's just slow and unimpressive, Hamilton and Kovalainen won't put a blinder on their rookie seasons, and Massa might lose to Kimi if things go alright for him, and will be forced to play a #2 role.

And of course, Button will probably be right behind the leading team, as usual, and will continue to spank the living crap out of Barrichello. Will keep scoring assloads of podiums, and maybe another win. But he won't fight for the championship.

Are you having heavy hard disk activity during those lockups?

To me it sounds like a driver issue. What motherboard do you have? Maybe it's time to get a chipset driver update... not to mention a SATA-IDE driver upgrade too. Hadn't you installed any driver updates by those days when the lockups started?

Using the System Restore could help, too. I'm a bit short on ideas to be honest, but that's what I'd try if you already checked for virus.

EDIT: Maybe I was too radical?

Ahh, those were the days... Gotta love to see that convertible Ferrari turning at 280 km/h. That's some serious grip!!

Sheesh, they haven't even tested a single car since the last race and you already hate F1 because a driver left?

Two bucks say you'll be watching the 2007 season anyway.

Argentinian TC2000

Don't care for:

· NASCAR (J.P. Montoya might change that next year for me though...)
· WRC or any other rally form.

If you have your screen setting at 16-bit colors, pump them to 32 bits. Green smoke is usually 16-bit color's fault in many games.

Quote from PAracer :I guess I could make this my first post on the forum.

I do a few track events each summer. Looking forward to running Watkins Glen next summer, as well as Virginia International, and Summit Point.

I might be the only person here whose race car is also their daily driver. Fully stripped, yet still street legal.

One tip: Stay clean.

Respect the yellow and blue flags, don't crash, bumpdraft or do other silly moves and you should be OK on most servers, keyword being most because there's some servers a bit rougher on their enforcement of rules.

Plus, racing with faster people WILL make you faster! It's a fact, so go online! If you don't go online, you're missing so much from the game.

Quote from Tube :I don't believe this for a second. Both, FZ50 and RAC can be controlled perfectly. We had great, close races with them on a high level.
RAC is just one of the cars which you cannot force beyond all bounds, unlike the noob cars like BF1 which basically drive for you and all you have to do is get the turn entrance right.

"noob cars like BF1"

What other cars would you rate as easy to drive? I'm intrigued. Nod

Quote from Boris Lozac :I don't find RAC or FZ5 higlighting physics issues..
They are perfectly controlable if you drive them nicely.
I haven't drove FZ5 much before, because everyone were saying that it is uncontrolable, well i find it becoming one of my favorites cars now. I played a bit with some drift set and my god, the car is great. Everything happens with a reason(just like with other cars), the weight transfer is great, i could really feel it. It really is a powerfull monster, very rewarding to drive!
Haven't driven RAC on the other hand that much, but i guess it's the same deal as with FZ50. You have to understand that you can't push them like that, you can't expect RAC to enter the corner in the same speed and stability as FOX for example. You must drive it gently, with gentle inputs, pretending like you'r in a real car.
This also aplies to those comments like "ice physics" and similiar...
Ice physics, jesus, physics is an absolute blast, people just need to realize that you can't expect the car to do something that can't be done.
Drive the RAC and FZ50 slowly for starters, and gradually increase speed... when you find them uncontrollable or "ICEY" it means that you're reached their limits, and they can't grip anymore, just face with that, don't call that "icey" or whatever..

Lesson learnt the hard way. I've been a demo user for months and I still can't control the XRT. Hell, even the XRG punches me back from time to time...

I think it's geeky, but does it matter anyway? I enjoy the game, and that's what matters. Not to mention it has improved my real-life driving quite a bit. I don't feel proud to tell girls or friends about it though. (I'm a part time musician, and that's much more fun to talk about... girls love guitar players!)

Unfortunately, I'm broke by now. HOWEVER... College will be over in around 2 months. Expect a S2 licensed Marty for South America's summer time!!

Seriously. I don't want LFS to mess with my college grades! But once it's done...
