So you feel both cases should be treated with the exact same penalty, because they both gained?!? Absolute nonsense!
...

There is no doubt that these to cases you described are different but there is no possibilitie in LFS atm to decide which of both cases happened. I think it would be stupid to calculate after the race for weeks who is deserving which penalty ... that would make those huge and great events just a desaster! Like I wrote before ... for now this seems to be the only possible and nearly fair choice that can be made! All other and better ways we can discuss when we have a way to really find out what happened.

Btw: If someone has a better idea, I'm going to say no more word!

Quote from BurnOut69 :What do you get when you get a DC, intentional or not:

New engine
Damage cleared
Fresh tyres
Full tank (or w/e is decided)
No pits drive-in
Free driver swap
Setup changes if needed

I think a -1 lap penalty is more than justified.

Exactly what I meant! In the meantime it's only fair to have a 1 Lap penalty for Shift -P and for a disconnect because it offers a lot of advantages! So I think that would be a good solution till there is something coming from LFS which gives us more possibilities!

Quote from Sracer :Maybe only penalize the disconnects that happen on the first sector or somehow count a time limit after you have passed the start finish line and then decide whether its worth of a penalty or not.

But then you still have the problem with the time the disconnected team gains with a fresh car on the track! Like you said it can be up to 30 or 40 secs per stint, so this still seems quite unfair for those who dont have or do a disconnect! This is a really problematic situation and we should really find a good solution. In shorter races I dont think this engine thing will play a big role, so we are not so much under time pressure!

Quote from foofighter :i can remember, that we had a disconnect just before start/finish-line. -2 laps just because of bad luck is pretty hard to take

Yeah, but it's even harder to suffer with a damaged engine and see others doing disconnects intentionally and having a fresh car every 4 hours

But that "Ghost Car" thing sounds nice but i dont think we will get it in the near future, so we should find a solution which can be realized at the moment with the things we have imo.

So I think the idea of AI Drivers taking the car when someone disconnects is some kind of risky! Think of a close battle between 2 cars and now the AI takes the car and tries to catch the optimal racing line again and now the other car is getting touched! I don't think the other car (team) would like it that way

I think the best and easiest way for the moment would be to punish every shift + s, shift + p and disconnect with a 1 lap penalty because I always liked the idea of taking a disconnect as a engine damage or a technical problem! I know that teams who really have a disconnect feal disadvantaged through that but we wouldn't have this discussion if everyone would have behaved fair.

For now this seems to be the best way to me!

//BUGREPORT

I don't know if it was already mentioned, but I realized when a quali starts you now start from pits but the speed limiter in the cars that have one isn't activated ... I think thats from the former quali system where you started on track!! Maybe this should be fixed or was it intentionally?

Btw: Nice work again Scawen ... keep rolling!!!

I just want to give you my oppinion: I think the goal of the balancing is not to make the classes EQUAL at all!!!! Its about to bring them as near as possible with the easiest way: the weight!

Think of the whole thing. There will always be advantages for one or onother car on specific tracks, but thats the way its ment to be. If all cars would have the exactly same speed what intention would you have to drive one of the classes cars?

We are confused about place 5 and 6 (#low and 1st)!!! Tracker sais different lap gaps to the lead but only about 30 seconds difference between cars. Maybe here is something wrong! Would be nice if you could check whats right here!

Thanks

WOW, what a crazy race for me! :-D

Because of problems with my pedals (maybe cleaning hte potentiometer will help) i went in the race with the hope to survive because i have always 5-25% accelaration even if i dont hit my pedlas :-(

The first 25 laps it went horrible, much worse than in praccy shortly before the race. in the 25th lap I let the accelaration pedal flick back and the problem seemed to be better so i could burn some good laps till round 45 where the problem was back again so hard.

So all over im glad that i could make a 8th place (because of retirements) and I hope i can fix the problem till next race with my pedals because it seems that the next combo really fits me good, at least its very much fun to me :-)

Voted to move the event.

Its way too much for one weekend! So I think its the best posiible way to deal with it.

Thanks for those who voted to move and make it possible for the olfsl race too. sry to those who miss because of the movement.

I agree with traxxion absolutely!

If time will stay 16:00, I will not be able to drive because of OLFSL and maybe some other from Cyber or other teams won't, too.

So let's wait if some others agree with 10:30 cest. I didn't heard so much voices pro or contra the starting time adjustment.

Maybe one or another way will make some teams to not participate. :-(

I just think that 10:30 cest would be the best option the keep the possibility for the ones who drive in OLFSL and them who want to watch Formula 1.

And like we saw, some others want to drive OLFSL too.

I have 4 weeks of OLFSL praccy and 2 weeks of LFS GT praccy behind me, so please give me and the others the opportunity to make 2 events on same day and let the dual praccy be worth it.

Would be very nice ;-)!

Nice Greetz Toretto!

This was my first OLFSL Race because i couldn't start at the first Race after 2 weeks of preparing. So I prepared well for the second race.

I started on the Tuneup Race an became 2nd.

After sending a hotlap 10 minutes before deadline, I started at pool 4 in place 2!

I took the lead in the first corner and leaded the race 15 laps but then
[400] J. Pickard got me and I didn't want to risk an unfair accident so I let him go! I was well on second and could go near the 1st at the end again but I'm very happy with the result for my first race and I will give my best to become better and better.

Think the FXO is it!

I've tested around a little bit and my oppinion is that the FXO feels good!

The RB4 is good on starting but the FXO is the best choice i think, at least for me! :-)
I'll have to test how it's looking on long distances and maybe the next race will prefer Pit Stops, who knows! (That would be more interesting)
Till now we had no tyre or weight (fuel) problem, but maybe this will change.

Greetz nRcToretto
It's going to be interesting

I'm very excited to the next race!

I think it's going to be interesting to see what different cars make of the starting field. I hope it's not going to cause any problems, because of different braking points or lines.

In the last Race I was 2nd in pool 4 and it's my first season so i'm looking forward to the next race and I will be prepared well.

So Have Fun and be careful :-)
