"Most users ever online was 3,138, 21st November 2013 at 20:47."

Says the statisics on the front page of this forum. Now, when I remember the time somewhere around , puhh, when was that, hard to say, somewhere between 2005-2007 I guess, there was an Update to be released that almost made everyones F5 key break b/c Scawen left us waiting. It was the time when LFS had the best race ever seen: Leagues, Events, 24h races, TV-broadcasting with Joachim "Vykos" Fies and so on. We all though LFS would make it's way to be the most sophisticated and widley used online racing simulator in the "world" imporving from update to update leaving all competitors (R-Factor, GTR, etc.) behind.

I'd say, looking back at these glorious times when LFS was at its best that more than just 3000 people were online once at a time. Or am I wrong? What could have been the reason on the 21st of November 2013 to attract so many people that this day holds the most-people-ever-online-record? Am I missing something?

I guess I'm just getting sad b/c all the lousy games such as Grid, Dirt3 etc. but also the enthusiast games such as iRacing, GTR, Race07 etc. didn't quite satisfy me in terms of car-feeling and handling which always brings me back to this forum and to see nothing happend or will happen. And if it ever happens, it's too late. There will never be such a community as back than and without the community LFS can be as perfect as never seen before, without all the great racers out there that I raced with it's not the same anymore. *cryyyyying* :-D Nevermind.

Back to topic. So, what is the actual number of people ever online in this forum?

Quote from Jens O. :
we had a few quite well organized servers,

At this point the 24h race in 2007 at KY GP Long Rev. springs to my mind. 3 Servers full of drivers with all the different car classes. Some new WR's in "I'll do the 24h all on my own"...live broadcasting and a lot of fun. This was at least for me the climax of LFS so far. After that event I kind of lost interesst since things just weren't going the way they should have during development.

But still...thinking back to 2005-2007, all the league racing, full servers with loads of skilled drivers...GREAT!

Oh, and talking of drivers, Csimpok was the first to share his setup with me.
Also Vykos, not as a driver since I've never had the chance to race him, but as a person pushing LFS-popularity to an extend I haven't seen by a community so far (German TV-Broadcasting, Racing Challenge sponsored by Siemens)

Quote from St4Lk3R :On the other hand, 10/10 to this thread. It's funny on one hand, but on the other, it kinda makes me sad.

+1! Remembering the times when the forum was full of people waiting for a new patch to come out. It felt like being part of something great. Now its kind of sad to see nothing big happening. :-( I miss the atmosphere of departure to...a golden future?! (remembering STCC, 24h Races etc. etc...S2 Final ?)

Very nice. Remembering my Demo-Times I was searching for some S2 content to decide whether to buy LFS S2 or not. The demo was quit fun and interesting but I didn't know what to expect from S2. So a video with great S2 action would have accelerated my decision by quit some time. With this video portal we should gain another million S2 drivers.

Here we go. Have a look at this auction...you can't get it on their website anymore but Ebay is making it possible.

Well, a few changes were done. Maybe just minor, but I changed the position of my Sata-Plugs on the board, meaning, switching from slot3 to slot1. Also, I added another harddrive having additional 500Gb capacity. After adding the harddrive I formated and reinstalled on the exisiting HD-partition. Nothing else changed. Well, I actually don't mind not having to unlock again but I thought to have it posted here since it could have been something bigger in terms of sharing licenses or whatsoever, which is surley not meant happen.

Hi there,

since I don't want to start a new thread about some probably easy to answer question I want to ask since when LFS doesn't need to be unlocked again when reinstalling Windows. I just formated my harddrive and reinstalled Vista 64 Ultimate. As usually I was going to unlock LFS as I always used to, but this time it was still unlocked. Is this a new feature since patch Y or is it something not happening too often?

Greetings

When looking at the processor, there are differences between AMD and Intel. Intel has up to date more cache then AMD offers. I heard somewhere, that LFS runs better with more cache at the same frequency. Can this be confirmed or not?

As we are running towards a new price drop by the end of July, I was thinking or better planing on buying a new system. The only question is, AMD or Intel? Concerning the power and price, a Intel System OC'ed beats AMD. Not OC'ed AMD would be my choice. Also, as one living right next to AMD's production hall I would also like to see them go on with business, so another point for AMD.
Another one related to the first bridge at Aston.

It might have been discussed before but I wasn't able to find anything more related to shadows and aston as this thread.

The Bug has probably to do with the bug mentioned first, the bridge not giving enough shadow to the environment. When having a look from the top view position, you can see the cars shadows through the bridge. I have had a look at other bridges and didn't see anything like this.

Greetings.

Yeah, that hitting of the "T-button" is really annoying. Every single game I try, I imediately hit that T and nothing happens. It always takes some time to realize its not LFS what I am playing.

But something different was bugging me. At the beginning of driving LFS you kind of always watched for that red light to appear telling you to shift into next gear. Well guess what. In RL it doesn't happen that way so my engine always got some additional revs before I was so kind to shift into next gear. illepall It took quite a while to get "unused" to that sort of manipulation by LFS.

Quote from inCogNito :since you are german, you should know what "Weitere Termine folgen." means

what do you think did the following quote mean???

"But maybe more Dates will follow as it is mentioned below that table. *still-hoping*"

It should indicate that I got it "though" its in german.

Quote from Vykos69 :You, as german, should read on www.intel.de/racingtour to see, that finals are planned in Ferbruary 2007. So there will be a stop of the IRT at Leipzig, but that's about all.

ah, ok. didn't see the finals but just this:

Datum Event Ort 22. April Intel® Racing TourOlympiapark,
München ab 10:00 Uhr 29. April Intel® Racing TourMain Taunus Zentrum,
Frankfurt ab 10.00 Uhr 05. Mai Intel® Racing TourHamburg 12. Mai Intel® Racing TourNürnberg 19. Mai Intel® Racing TourMünchen 26. Mai Intel® Racing TourKöln 09. Juni - 11. Juni Intel® Racing TourKöln 17. Juni - 25. Juni Intel® Racing TourKiel 29. Juni - 01. Juli Intel® Racing TourHamburg

Weitere Termine folgen.

I think it is kinda bad, that they actually just stop in the "west" and nowhere near somthing in between or even "east". Not even Berlin is considered worth stopping and this as the capitol of Germany. illepall Nürnberg is probably the most "eastern" city though. Maybe some of us can make it there.
But maybe more Dates will follow as it is mentioned below that table. *still-hoping*

What about Leipzig, the place to be when it comes down to games and more. Just thinking about the in August upcoming Games Convention 2006.

Nothing less then the Racing Challenge powered by Fujitsu Siemens and organized by OCRANA based on the LFS-Demo was actually started there last year. So I think there is no better place to hold the Intel Racing Tour Finals right there, the centre for gaming in Europe.

Quote from evans :The current F1 cars "only" produce 750hp.

oh ok, if u say so. I took that information from wikipedia and there id said

"Zum Ende der Formel 1 Saison 2005 hatten die besten Teams nach Ermittlungen eines unabhängigen Motoreningenieurs jedoch bereits wieder rund 925 PS bei 19.800 U/min erzielt."

meaning, that at the end of the 2005 season they already achieved more than 900hp.

and back in 1997 the had 750hp.

"Schon 1997 hatte man schon wieder das alte Niveau von ca. 750 PS erreicht, mittels Drehzahlen über 17.000"

illepall don't know what to believe now.

I didn't get it...is this "less than a minute car" an actual pic taken from a real car or is it a new modeled one by the devs with slight differences but quite right for lfs?!?! illepall with 900hp less than a minute should be no question.

ghost patch download

Quote from evans :I haven't been able to get this to work? How did you do that?
I've only managed race a ghost of my own lap.

if you have the right version and a specific "patch" than its no hard to do that. as mentioned, you will need a patch that came out some time ago. its called ghostpatch for you and all not having it here is the download:

http://rapidshare.de/files/18157661/ghostpatch.zip.html

the download page is in german, so scroll down and klick the "free" button within that table on the right lower side. next step is to type in 3 letters into a field provided. (kein premium user *** hier eingeben.) -->download.

the download will be available for 30 days from now on. if u miss it just look for lampost22 on any lfs server, the racing challenge @ www.raced.de or the german esl series.

just unzip and start the patch. it is not a patch that overwrites anything. when startet a small panel pops up with a button to press whenever u'r ready. it is absolutly necessary that you do not fast forward the replay b/c then it doesn't work and it will give you an error msg after finishing the lap.

1. start patch
2. start any hl replay
3. press the button of the "patch"
4. watch until the end
5. hotlap and get frustrated b/c ur toooo slow

cya and have fun!

Racing Challange- Demo
Lampost22
S2 licensed
Hi, maybe the following is an solution u might can take advantage of. The reason why I started playing LFS was the so called Racing-Challange. This was back in 2005 a racing legue where all demo-drivers were able to participate. Races were driven every two weeks, later on even every week (weekends). During ur race-free-time u were able to qualify just by driving on special servers organized for that event. U just needed to register and then race with that registerd name. Ur fastest lap was than put onto a list and u could see how u did compared to other racers. To make it more attractive for even not so skilled drivers, they divided them into pro's and rookie's. On saturday the first round took place and on sunday second and final round were done. The best 2 drivers of the pro and rookie grid qualified for an offline final racing event in Frankfurt (Germany). There the best of the best participated and even got nice prizes though. Everyone was given a certain amount of money to be able to get to that event. There were people from the UK, Hungary, CZE, Poland and Estonia. I gues far more natinalitys were actually on site. If this isn't motivation to u at all, what else could?

The fact is, it was unusually fair driving because every race was observed by admins and afterwards being analysed. If there was any unfairnes being done, those drivers got punished.

At the moment there is no challange but at the end of this year there will be one again, like last year. There are no news at all but wait for the 2006 Games Convention in Leipzig (Germany). There the started this project and it is likely to be, that they will anounce something new. So, if u have some time go visit http://www.raced.de/ the official website to that event. Unfortunatly it is mostly in german. So if u have any questions feel free to ask me. I'll be happy to answer. The actual host of this event is the ocrana racing team. so maybe u have also a look on their site since it could be in english but I am not sure. (http://www.ocrana.de/)

plz do not count my mistakes. I am no native so no chance to get everything right. Sorry.
