I have also had an issue when running an autocross layout from the dedi X server. Nothing to do with pressing any keys, just random crashes. I could complete anything between 0 and 10 laps when the PC crashed, yes the PC, not just the game. The PC would lock up, sound would loop and then I would be looking at the BIOS screen, waitng for the PC to restart.

all other tracks are fine, just autocross layouts.

I don't think picky is the right word.

This rule exists in real world racing, so why not enforce it here, for all tracks? I must admit that I do make an effort to stay on my side of the white line, when leaving the pits, out of good manners.

So it happened again, but this time at least I got a screenshot that might help.

Good new is, it seems to be working fine with a different n/w card.

Thanks again for your help.

Becky,

Thank you for the suggestion about DNS caching. No I have not installed the game from scratch.

Moonclaw,

Nice one. I will check that if the problem comes back.

Thank you both.

You can also change the layout from the nogfx server or the connection screen by typing:
/axlist = list all layouts on the track
/autox <name of layout> = loads <name of layout>
/axclear = to clear current layout from track (does not delete it!)

Game glitch in multiplayer mode.

Even since the U patch I have had a strange issue while in multiplayer mode.

I can join a server (my LAN, most of time), either as a spectator or competitor and roughly every 3 seconds the game will freeze for a 1 second and other cars will diaplay the LAG message. This issue will continue as long as I'm connected. When I run a single player game, no such issue. The only way to fix it at the moment is to keep restarting the PC, not just LFS until it works.

I have attempted the fix this glitch by turning off ALL the background tasks I could find, so it's not XP at fault.

Just to clarify, the glitch only happens on multiplayer games and yes I have tested it with only me connected. I also checked the networking section in task manager and did not see any spikes in network traffic.

It has to LFS causing this. Is there anything I can install to monitor the network traffic within LFS?
Sending and receiving of set-ups.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I did to a quick search and found nothing.

It would be nice to have the ability to be able to send and receive setups while in the occnection screen, instead of having to start a race, send setup, pit (to change to new setup), rejoin and restart race.

Just add another button on the Kick/Ban line next to the player's name on the connection screen.

Quote from lambchop44 :If you put one of these courses on a server, can you have a race that starts like a normal race with several cars?

Only if the start point has not been moved.

damn, so there is a limit.

Well you could edit the SETUP.CFG for the dedicated server and change the following line:

//no restart for X seconds after race start
/rstmin=0

set that to 1800 and players will not be able to restart for 30 minutes after race start. I have not tested the value past 60 (1 minute) so I'm not sure if it will work for an extended time period.

Nice to find out, though

So are you asking that there be a choice whether the penlities are imposed or not?

if you change car (tab) and watch another driver, regardness of what they have chosen, thier speed will be displayed in the format that you have. that way you can work out what speed they are doing in your chosen format.

make sence?

Quote from Fonnybone :Ok, then how about this...

Which situations would you most likely vote yes when you see a ban vote?

1- Don't see him and have no idea what he's doing wrong.

2- Don't see him, but remember him cutting you and others off.

3- See on the map that he's stopped in the middle of the last turn's apex.

4- See on the map that he's going the wrong way.
.

3 and 4 could give me cause to vote yes.

If it helps bump this suggestion up the to-do list, I am all in favour of a wider and longer autocorss arena. Also the restriction on the number of objects, from 512 to say 1024, would have to be taken into account.

carrying on the town planning association theme, I object. I agree with Blackout (post 8), the corner should not be altered.

Thank you for the tip. I will try that tonight.

I guess that ends this improvment thread Big grin

When using the editor, is it possible to add a feature that allows you to type in the angle of the object you want to place, as trying to use the slider to select a 45 or 90 deg angle is a pain.

Unless of course someone has found a technique to overcome this.

Thank you.

As the title might suggest, this track was inspired by those old 8bit and 16bit top-down racers, complete with a 'yellow' box junction.

Desgned for the MRT5.

A good lap time is around 46 seconds and it's about 1% fuel per lap.

Enjoy.

the other way to remove the layout is, from the connection list screen or the dedicated server you can type:
/axclear - clear layout
/axlist shows layouts available for that track
/autox <nameoftrack> loads the layout <nameoftrack>

Hope that helps.

nice work, in finding those piccies.

makes trying to re-create the track sooooo much harder now.. as folk now have more an expectation.

i did say that i want to revise mine version, so i best get to it.
