Quote from Gekkibi :There are lots of wreckers and rammers among licensed users

The numbers pale in comparison to demo users. Besides, licensed racers can be punished with no limits when they wreck. A demo racer can still just make a new account.
In the end licensed racers have paid for the game, demo racers have not (yet), so there will and have to be difference in abilities, nothing wrong with that IMO.

I always use EAC: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de
I´ve also used the already mentioned CDex, which is really good too
In this case CDex probably is the better choice as it´s a bit simpler.

Quote from J.B. :Did you know that one of the things that convinced Charles Darwin that other powers than God must be at work in nature was all the messed up and cruel stuff he saw in the wild?

I don't want to turn this into a religious discussion but you don't exactly have to look beyond God to see cruelty.

Quote :
Like the Galapagos bird that always kills it's second born for no apparent reason.

I saw a nature documentary once about some bird, I can't recall what kind. The bird almost always gave birth to twins. The twins would fight eachother. Once determined which one was the stronger one, the mother would stop feeding the weakest and the stronger one would fight the other one till death followed. The purpose of this would obviously be natural selection. This, ofcourse, is cruel. But it also serves a purpose. So, I'm not trying to say nature can't be cruel, it often is. Nature's ways can also be unclear to us, like in your example. But I believe, a species like humankind knows cruelty to a level other species don't. Not only towards other creatures but amongst themselves too.

Quote :
Throwing a puppy off a cliff may be messed up but in the big scheme of things I think a civilisation that is still based on building armies to go to war against each other has more serious things to worry about.

Ofcourse, no argument there. Although you could even say that that's nature as well. Practically all species fight for territory/commodities against other groups.
But anyway, there's always some bigger problem. Just because a bigger problem exist doesn't mean the smaller ones don't deserve to be adressed/condemned.

Quote :Sorry if that came across somewhat heartless, that certainly isn't the case. I'm not saying those guys aren't utter jerks or anything. In fact I didn't even watch the videos because I didn't want to see that kind of cruelty. I'm just saying that being up in arms about the puppy just shows how far removed we are from just how f**** up many places on this earth are.

No worries But I see people outraged over wars and cruelty towards other humans as well. Rightfully so and myself included. The biggest problem in this world, as far as I am concerned, is an ever increasing lack of respect towards life in general. So that includes terrorism, genocide, oppression, but also throwing defenseless creatures to a terrible death for the "fun" of it. I find it equally disturbing to see marines humiliate and/or torture prisoners for instance.

Quote from David33 :Are you describing yourself?

Well, I can't exclude myself and declare myself to be the only righteous exception to the rule for sure. After all I'm part of a system that is slowly but surely destroying itself and everything around it.
But ofcourse I am not trying to say that no human being is worth of a place on this earth. As a collective though we are failing miserably. There's way too many of us, we defy nature's ways and are self destructive.

Please note though, I'm really not as gloomy as you might make me out to be because of my comments. I am able to laugh and see positive things and I don't self-mutilate It's not that I think there's no hope for humanity or something, but as a collective I can't really think very highly of it.

Quote from wsinda :I'm sure those soldiers were nice, decent guys back at home. That's what a war does to people.

You know, some people just are this moralless and moronic by nature. I´m sure these nutcases were trash at home too. That´s army recruiting for you. People are capable of doing this in a non-war situation, you can read about it almost everyday. Call me emo or whatever, but humankind is the cancer of the earth. No other creature gets fun out of torturing. That doesn´t mean there are no good people ofcourse.
I would never be capable of doing this...never. No, I´ve never been in a war situation, but I just know that I could never be transformed into something like these retards.
War ****s up your mind, not your heart.

Ridiculous pricing, especially since there is no free demo to try out. 20 bucks for a month to even check if it´s worthwile is ridiculous.
I hate subscription based gaming anyway, I´ll never give into it. I want to buy a game/sim and be able to play and use all of it´s features and be done with it.
I have a hard time believing they will be able to build a community this way, especially since it already is a niche market.

Instead of giving the AI different skill levels I think it would be more interesting to give them different driving styles. One could drive rather "agressive" and on the limit making it generally fast but more prone to make mistakes while another might be a bit slower but making less mistakes.

please try to see the differences between LFS and NFS. They are not the same type of game. If you want to be chased by the police, play NFS or rob a bank. If you want to simulate racing, play LFS. But don't mix them up, it's obscene.
Give up on your suggestions, as it will never, ever, ever happen.

How do you people do it? I seriously am very interested to see replays from the people who keep burning their clutches and then complain it's not realistic.
Come on, post a replay. Then we will be able to tell if it's unrealistic or that you just can't even change gear properly.
Because other than doing it on purpose I have not burned the clutch ONE SINGLE time!

Yup, no use for any screws to install drives. You don't need any screws to install pci cards either, although you can if you want to (I opted to use screws for the videocard). The brackets can be easily removed or reattached using the same system. I had to use a bit of force yes, but it all went pretty smoothly.

I couldn't wait until February and this week I decided to get my new system, which I put together yesterday.
Loving it so far, I succeeded in getting it quiet without much hassle, such a difference with my old system.
I went for the P5KC, and a E6850, with a 8600GTS. I got the Seasonic PSU which is lovely. I did go over my desired budget though but it was worth it
I'm already a lot faster in LFS just because of the much smoother movement even though I myself am still a bit rusty
I can definitely recommend the Coolermaster case, it's a great value case with excellent airflow

Anyway, thanks again, your comments helped a lot

Quote from UncleBenny :Even at the maximum zoom level the cars were kind of tiny, would be nice to be able to zoom in a little more. The monitor I was using at the time was at 1600x1200 so I assume that contributed to this.

I second this. Or at least the ability to make the fonts bigger and offer more contrast would make it even better
