So am I to assume that everyone here doesn't notice all the little flaws with LFS that stick out like a sore thumb to me? One would be the complete lack of orginization with reguards to setups. Can't the game provide folders based on track name in which to store relavent setups? Personally I can't stand having all my setups for a car shown to me at all times. If only one is relavent to a track I only want to see that one. If I think one from a different track will work I will copy it over. It will get changed to suit the "new" track, so it isn't like I'll have 10 copies of one setup.

Another issue is how the online pick-up races work. I have not come across a server yet that actually has practice, qualifying, and race session. All of them that I have seen are in a constant loop of running 5-10 lap races. Some of us like to work on setups before races, since we haven't spent all day every day for the last 3 years perfecting them Hard to do that though when you jump on a server and find out it is in the middle of a race. Which is my next point. Why does the game even allow people to actually join the race after it has started? Joining the server is fine, but there is no need for people to join the actual race once it has started...they have no hope of winning.

How about the cars? Could we work on making the cars more accessable as far as setup options? The "street" cars in LFS have more setup options that most race cars. Why don't we limit them to options that are reasonable for the types of cars they are? Or, if they aren't street cars, make them look much more like the full on race cars they are. The GTR cars seem fairly tame, but maybe that is just because the default setups are....a random grouping of values.

I could go on but there is no need to. None of this stuff is major, but stuff that is present in the "lower level" games that are "mainstream" (I never thought there could be a niche market INSIDE of a niche market). None of these issues, that I preseave, keep me from enjoying LFS but they do make me wonder. LFS is not "years ahead" of the other games, it merely have features that the others do not. One feature that LFS doesn't have that I'd like is driver swapping. I know of one game in which it can be done. To me that is about as big of a deal as the auto skin download...which seems to be planned for another game.

AndroidXP, thank you. I did not know that exsisted And yes that is exactly the kind of thing I was looking to find, have shown to me.

Tag and Becky, I guess my thing is that I just don't understand why one game has to be better than the others. Who cares? I can have fun in any racing game. Does it make me less of a "hardcore" simmer to enjoy playing Burnout with my girlfriend, or even by myself for that matter? I'd think not. But by reading posts here it certainly makes ME feel like most people here view themselves as better than me because of MY choice in games. I don't see the point in comparing difference between games either. I've never understood that amongst any of the various sim communities. I play the games because they are fun and I enjoy racing.

I've had some GREAT races in various games and mods over the years and I don't think any one sim has provided me more fun than any other. So why does everyone seem to have to either love everything BUT LFS or only LFS? I really like LFS but if my man league of choice (TPTCC for those that care) were to switch to it I don't think I'd like it as much. I really do enjoy running around real tracks, really. It gives me something to relate to.

I don't view the LFS tracks as fantasy tracks, per se, so much as real tracks that I've just never seen. The cars are all close enough to something real that I don't care that they are fake. But, IMHO, it would lose something to switch most of my sim racing to a game that, right now, doesn't have any real tracks.

I know this is no fault of the devs, or the community really, but one thing I'd like to see is a central place for LFS Leagues. I know there is a subforum here but it doesn't do things like show me active and inactive leagues, or even leagues that no longer exsist but still have a forum here. I can't see when the league holds their races at a quick glance.

One nice thing you get at R2P, and this is not a sales pitch so please don't kill me for saying, is that it shows you a weekly calander of events (races and times, the times are even displayed in each user's local time). You fill out a little "Racing Preferences" survey and it essentially puts a vote in for what mods and times people want to play. This is something I'd like to see setup in this community, I honestly don't care who does it, as it would make it easier for me to sift through the loads of information that is useless to me to get the one bit that is.

BTW: As you notice I have an S2 license, I've been playing LFS since it was publicly released (pre-S1 days) and have always held a current license. Not all people that currently play games like nkPro, GTR2, rFactor, and Race are unaware of LFS. Some, like me, just know that they are all fun and like to play them all. I don't view any one sim as better than the other, apparently that makes me a bad person here. I just don't see the point in the elitism that people feel with LFS. It accomplishes nothing, and only turns off others.

So you find it a bit like paying for one of the commercial sims instead of Racer? Or using MS Office instead of Open Office.org? Not to mention....no one has to pay anything. They don't make you pay anything, there is a free membership that allows you to race all you want on their servers.

I have to wonder why everyone focuses on the pay part of it instead of just trying it out, for free mind you, and actually seeing what it is like. I suppose the more direct comparison is to say it is like a league you pay membership fees to. Those do exsist and they are popular, at least they look like they might be. What do they give you that a free league doesn't? What R2P does give you is the chance to run multiple series in different cars, and even games, with people you know. You can either do that FOR FREE or you can CHOOSE to pay them money.

As I said, please just sign up to the site and do a race or two. It takes time to have it all make sense. I wasn't a big fan of it at first but once I figured the site out and ran a few race it all clicked. You really just don't get the full idea of what R2P is like by looking in through the window.

To fully understand what R2P has to offer you have to sign up and join some races. Get out there and notice that the races aren't like a pick up race. Take notice that you see familiar faces driving more than one type of car, or even more than one game (have mercy, there are choices of games?!). You don't get an idea of how nice it all is unless YOU TAKE PART. That is like looking at the back of a game box and saying, "I don't see the big deal." You won't unless you play. If you are all too busy to even try it out, considering it is FREE, then it is your loss. The basic, free, subscription to R2P is enough to allow you to do most everything you want. You don't have to pay them anything and you can use almost all of the features they have to offer. If you want to pay them a little then you get to play with a few extra features. I don't see the big problem here.

Myself, I don't run LFS that much online. I'm not a fan of pick up races and I can't ever seem to find a league that fits my schedule (apparently only Europeans run leagues in LFS). So basically it just sits on my HD taking up space. I'd love to run it online and R2P would provide just that opportunity. If it makes me an evil person because I want to see R2P support LFS then so be it.

Here is my FOX baseline setup. Nothing great, but it is better, IMHO, than the the default setup.
